A 4km run earned me 2 beers yesty.

But I hit the jackpot today when a 10km crumpet-powered hill-climb cycle earned me a fresh-cream long-john with jam, dusted with sugar and garnished with custard filled profiteroles for pudding.

It's fresh cream all the way this week...

Jam layer and dusting of icing sugar for a cholesterol-busting spanky sponge pudding.

^^ The trouble I find with those cream sponges Looper is that when you take a bite, all the cream oozes out and goes everywhere. I tend to put a slice on it's side and eat it with a spoon.

Anyway, it was chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce for me again tonight.

If I have one criticism about these chocolate puddings, it's that they're not big enough.

And the ratio of vanilla sauce to chocolate pudding is a bit too high. I would prefer more chocolate and less sauce.

Money shot. I'm not gammy handed but can't seem to take photos with my left hand.

I did not even attempt to get my cake-hole round that monster wedge. I was all over that bad boy with my dessert spoon, to slice of manageable mouthfuls.

^Nicely manicured nails, if I may say so Mendip. Was that a freebie bonus thrown in to your 30 squid haircut?

It is a decent bike and I have had it for nearly 8 years Joe. I got it second-hand for $100 and it is still going strong so it has done sterling service. Peggy-Sue's ride is in a different league though...

I was off on another crumpet powered bike ride today.

    Q. Why did the goose cross the road?

    A. It didn't. It walked halfway across and then sat down so the lady in the car had to drive round it.

She walked the steeper hills near the end, as is a lady's prerogative.

Nice one Loops. Congratulations on finding your peggy Sue that's into cycling, she commands some respect for owning that lightweight Boardman!

You've had your bike a similar amount of time to me and a similar price.
I don't buy into all this spending thousands for a few kilos less in overall weight.
Cycling for the pleasure of cycling is what it's all about and if you can find someone to share that pleasure then you are a fortunate man.

    Nice bucket bbq btw.
    Shalom

No point Joe when your pudding weighs in at half a pound...

Fresh cream goes with anything and today it goes with caramel toffee

Last bag of Barry's means I get to crack open a fresh box tomorrow and I will make sure to vacuum seal the bags immediately after opening, instead of thinking of it a day later like I did last month with that box.

A new one for me, a pineapple and coconut loaf.

Started off by roasting some dried coconut flakes in the oven for a few minutes until turned golden.

Got to mix softened butter with sugar, flour with salt and baking soda.

The mix gets eggs added to it to make a batter.

The flour is then mixed in, along with crushed pineapple that's had as much juice as possible drained.

Half of the roasted coconut is then mixed in.

Mix then goes into a greased loaf tin.

and topped with the other half of the coconut flakes then into the oven for about an hour.

It's going to be topped with an icing frost, simple mix of caster sugar and some milk.

Loaf is ready, icing put over the top once its cooled a bit.

Pretty good, though on the sweet side.

I am familiar with the name Tiramisu, and I have had it before, but I could not remember what it is exactly.

    Pudding-img_20220701_211125-jpg

I unpacked it ready to extract a slice but I found that it is mostly a kind of soft very rich chocolate mouse with a soggy sponge base that tastes vaguely alcoholic, sort of like a posh poofter's trifle. So I decided to eat it straight from the tray for practicality.

    Pudding-img_20220701_211755-jpg

It is very hard to stop eating once you start so I did well, I think, not eat half of it but instead a modest 1/3

Slice of apple pie half-hidden and just breaking the surface of a pool of custard, like a crocodile lurking to lunge at an unsuspecting wildebeest that comes for a drink
