Easy snack and good at soaking up some beverages. Cabbage pie. Thinly chopped/sliced cabbage, mixed in a bowl with some diced onion, added herbs/spices (I've used dried parsley and chilli flakes in this one), some beaten egg mixed in, then finally some flour to bind it all together. In a frying pan with a drop of oil, medium heat covered for 10 minutes, then slipped onto a plate and using the pan turned over for 5 minutes on the other side. Good hot or cold.

Looks good PAG, never knew this dish existed, I haven't been living!

That would actually go quite well with a fry up.

Branston Pickle is a must have stocked item, you never know when your going to need it.

I read that dipping avocado in honey soy is quite yummo so I made some honey soy (and some honey Teriyaki)

    Supper-img_20220619_193436-jpg

I can confirm that it is indeed quite yummo

I have since googled it and discovered that I was supposed to use light soy and I was supposed to add vinegar.

I will give it another spin when I get more avos.

Sneaked into the African Queens kitchen after she fell asleep for a 3am double noodles bowl supper feast.

    Supper-img_20220714_044240-jpg

    Supper-img_20220714_045447-jpg

I fell asleep and found she had left for work when I woke up but she had phoned for a 1kg delivery of noodle box on her food app before she left as my day rations. These noodle boxes are top stuff. Loads a big bits of chicken and prawns and really rich soy.

    Supper-img_20220714_173002-jpg

She has a 24 hour shift since she does aged and disabled care and sleeps over at the customers place as part of a shift.

Then I found that she has locked the front door of her house and there is no key so I can't get out.

I hope she phones for another noodle delivery or else I will have to make this box last a bit but I have watched every episode of Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls so I have got a few tricks up my sleeve.

A similar thing happened to my mate.

He met a chick in the club and went back to her place for the night. When he wakes up he has another go then she's in the shower and he's got a missed call from me. So he sends me a text along the lines of:

"Yeehaw bro, I've been geein it laldy all night and all morning with that tidy wee thing from last night. Weird nips but beautiful wee fanny with a trim wee landing strip. Either way she'll be walking like John Wayne for at least a week!"

Enter 'Tidy Wee Thing' stage right, tosses her phone on the bed, 'Fuck's this?' and the dickhead's only went and sent it to her by mistake.

    Cold Shoulder. Time to go.

Well, her flatmate's only went and picked up the wrong keys and fkd off to work til 6pm leaving the 2 of them locked in on the 4th floor.

Worst day of his life apparently.

Love your naivety, just when do you think you are getting out? Me, i'd check for anywhere locked and break into it and just hope you don't find desiccated predecessors. Oh and be careful eating that food she's got you, you may wake the following day in the same situation.

Senorita made an emergency drop of 1Kg of the finest bacon available to humanity.

Bacon is one of those things that I just never buy. It must be 25 years since I bought bacon. I love it in a hotel breakfast but I don't miss it in a home fry up.

She called to see if I ate bacon to which I said 'yes' and she then dropped the emergency rations saying that her friend had mysteriously come into possession of a large quantity. I did not ask any questions.

Anyhoo this is supper. Bacon atop a tart cheddar cheese melt on toast

That's gammon, not proper bacon I do believe.

^I am quite used to putting ham on top of a cheese melt so I thought this concoction would be in the blokish ballpark

I am not sure what the technical difference between all these butcher's varieties of pig meat is anyway (although obviously ham is pre-cooked and bacon is not)

Quote Originally Posted by armstrong View Post

I think so, although my first thought on pulling out the first slice was that this was unusually thick bacon

However it is defo still in the bacon stakes and not the gammon steaks

A single slice weighs 85 grams which is almost as much as a MacDonalds quarter pounder

    Supper-img_20230120_030301-jpg

A single slice is also at least 3 inches taller than a Nazi in boots and luftwaffe oberstleutnant peaked cap

    Supper-img_20230120_030400-jpg

Why is bacon always that shape anyway?

Why has it got a round lean bit and then a streaky long bit hanging off the round lean bit?

Has anyone got an anatomical diagram of a pig with dissection explanation?

Back bacon is a cut of bacon that includes the pork loin from the back of the pig. It may also include a portion of the pork belly in the same cut

Black pudding is the food of Gods.

Wabi-Sabi as the Japanese would say (the beauty of imperfection).
