The last thing Seņorita Surabaya murmured before slipping into a slumber after her big birthday bash on Tuesday was that she had left some chicken in her car.

I said I would fetch it and put it in the fridge and not to forget to take it with her in the morning.

But of course she did forget and so here is Thursdays supper.

My favourite chicken drumsticks with the really hot piquant chilli sauce.

I like to stop for a maccas on the way home from Miss Lusty Luzon's as I do not eat maccas very often so it is a rare treat.

Anyways I pulled into her local franchise after departing her gaff about 1am and all was quiet. I ordered a big mac and paid and pulled up to the drive-in hatch

I was waiting for about 3 minutes when the car behind me decided that he had been waiting too long so he blasted his horn.

I thought it was bit odd. There was nobody at the window at the time. But a minute later the server walked past and peered out the hatch without opening it.

I waited a further 8 minutes before the humble big mac duly arrived.

I drove round the corner and opened it and savoured the unique aroma...

    Supper-img_20210906_022241-jpg

...before biting into an almost cold big mac.

Normally when you wait that means they are making it fresh so it is usually piping.

I thought the long wait was puzzling too, when the place was deserted.

Then I clicked that the server blokey must have thought it was me blasting my horn and decided that I needed to wait an extra 8 minutes and receive a cold burger for my impatience.

    Fair enough I reckon.

I would probably do the same thing if I was a burger flipper being harrassed by impatient late-night probably drunk customers.

I hope there was nothing worse than saliva in it too by way of burger flippers misdirected revenge.

I might give maccas a miss for a while.

^I had a little bit of the runs today.

I can accept misdirected MacDonalds server retribution in the form of a stomach bug of suspicious provenance.

But if I have been maliciously infected with the gay then I think that is a bit of a karmically steep price to pay, considering it was not even me who beeped the horn.

^That is very serendipitous that you should mention that Mike as I had completely forgotten my mental note from many weeks ago to consume the last ranky chinky egg bun. Since then it had fallen out of view at the back of the top shelf in the fridge...

That is supper sorted for tonight!

Wish me and my queasy stomach good luck...

(I should really have remembered myself since tonight I finally got round to watching Eat Drink Man Woman from 1994 by Ang Lee, which I had been meaning to do for years)

Tonight is the last night of the daughter's Christmas holidays... well, to be quite honest tomorrow night is the last night but with an early start Monday, tonight is the last night of enjoyment when I can go to sleep with that wondrous feeling that I can wake up exactly when I'm ready.

Yeah, around 4am if the last few weeks are anything to go by.

But anyway, to take to the bedroom to watch Dolittle with the littl'un... a cheese board with cocoa... it don't get better than that!

I found some apricot chutney at the back of the fridge. God knows how old it is but I just love apricots... apricot yogurt is my very favourite and I'd love to grow them. Possible in Thailand?

And wots the difference between a pickle and a chutney???

And I'd love to say that was a nice slug of malt with me supper, but my Aberfeldy didn't survive Bangkok and my Highland Park lasted a week up here. Tonight it was Hong Thong!

No airplane models, but Happy New Year Looper!

“ And wots the difference between a pickle and a chutney“

The key difference between pickle and chutney is that the pickle typically includes whole fruits and vegetables or large pieces whereas chutney includes small pieces of fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, pickle refers to vegetables or fruit, sometimes cut into pieces, which have been kept in vinegar or salt water for a long time so that they have a strong, sharp taste. Chutney, on the other hand, is a spicy condiment of Indian origin, made of fruits or vegetables with vinegar, spices, and sugar.Although many people consider pickle and chutney as the same type of perseveres, there is a distinct difference between pickle and chutney. The process of pickling makes pickles while slow cooking makes chutneys. Both these foods include preserving perishable food, i.e., fruits and vegetables

    ^ Thanks DW.

    You live and learn.

Apricot chutney is the bollocks! I'm gonna make mango chutney this year if all of our blossom lives up to expectations.

^^ I'd also add that a Chutney is generally cooked whereas a pickle generally isn't

Red onion chutney with popadums is the bollox, but I’ve never seen it in an Indian outside of UK or Oz.

I'm on a pretty strict diet just now, but after a couple of Hong Thongs and a healthy dinner it's always nice to find some pudding.

The cupboards are bare after Christmas but after searching the fridges I struck the mother load... the daughter's stash of retro sweets from Santa.

Just the job with a nighttime cup of cocoa...

These Curly Wurlys have got smaller... or have I got bigger over the last 40 years?

    Bring it on!

Dunno but I bought frozen apricots in Big C, Pattaya Klang, before.

I bought a load of those drumsticks and wham bars in Siamburis too, but they hadnt travelled well.

    Parma violets though.

I put a packet into a bottle of vodka but they didn't do much. I reckon you would need 10 packs of smashed PVs to do a liter properly.

Yesterday's offering weren't up to my usual healthy standard but it was Friday after all when I go to visit my Welsh mate to guzzle industrial quantities of Leo, no ice.

The pre-drink offering was leftover fried fish sarnies with leftover pea fritter.

    Surprisingly tasty!

The main event was the post-drink supper. What else to do after sharing a box of Leo with Ya Dong chasers than fire up the much neglected Breville. I want to give my daughter a rounded education and this stuff is essential.

I like to stay healthy so added a couple of mushrooms to my cheese toastie, but I must get out of the habit of having a night cap.

    Perfectly timed.

And perfectly plated, all things considering.

    The money shot!

We don't get anything like that in Songkhla. There's a mediocre Tops in Hat Yai. Makes no sense, there are more farangs in Songkhla on oil and gas coin compared to a handful of teachers in Hat Yai.
