Chef creates Christmas Dinner Pie weighing 1kg to feed family of four - Wales Online
oops sorry Bogans you need shit loads of gravy in pies.
Prices are about as low as we can go for single orders, but we go 10% off for orders of 100 or more.
We have to render our own lard for a start, which is costly and time consuming. The crackling is not very good as a byproduct because we cant add fucktons of salt and we over render it anyway to get as much lard as possible.
It would probably be cheaper to make our pies in OZ or UK, where you can simply buy the lard and and good quality meat cheaper from supermarkets. Cheese is costly here too.
We serve our pies in the bar with a side bowl of gravy, white sauce or curry sauce, depending on the pie.
Lang may yer lum reek...

My wife would love to charge 120 Baht for her pies but others here are offering their pies for 60 - 70 Baht.
I hope once we open we can serve the pies as part of a meal.
Most of the bars/guesthouses etc throw in a portion of chips and a pot of sauce and charge 250 baht to tourists.
We also give 10% discount on orders of 100 or more.
Of course the difference is in the size and quality. We would be able to drop prices if we were selling to Tesco, Tops, Makro etc... but we have a long way to go to get accepted for this.
Our first born made his first pie yesterday. It's a bit different but I fully support his concept.

I'll have to supervise him over a batch, make sure he washes his hands and keeps his fingers out of his nose. He's 7.
Actually, I can see him pouring all that gravy in with a big smirk on his face thinking he's being naughty.
I reckon he's onto a winner though.
^ you must be proud!
Makro now selling Four and Twenty pies, party pies and travellers(?) and cheap too. How much development can Thailand stand?
What about bourbon or Tennessee whisky? Isnt there another whisky that has no H? Welsh wisgy? Only drinking whiskey made in the land of the free and the home of the seppos, I did notice Big C had a good price on Suntory japanese whiskey. Its quite good so im told.
I use to enjoy a bottle of 3 roses but unavailable in oz and haven't seen it in LOS.
Sorry to get away from pies but many oz pies dont have flakey pastry. I prefer a more standard pastry. The pie floater in South Oz is a must to try.
f you are a pie officianado try the pie shop on the highway at Marburg they have about 50 varieties. Marburg is on the Warrego Hwy between Brisbane and Toowoomba. A nice chunky wagyu beef marinated in red wine pie and followed by a blueberry pie for dessert...Heaven. I shall give you my review when I'm back there in August.
