I'm not sure it's meant to be that bright yellow.

Not sure, just from a local market. It was small but delicious.

    eh? Since when?

There's hundreds of varieties of durian, and many are bright yellow.

Bloody hell . . . that looks brilliant . . . is it Musang King or D24? Too meaty for kampung durian.

Have you tried the Penang merah? Simply . . . unbelievable.

My favourite durian is the merah udang . . . only to be found in Sabah . . . hence why I love working in KK.

We went grocery shopping at the Asian supermarket the other day and my youngest called out that they had fresh durian - not frozen!!!

    Awesome!!!! But then:

$45/kg. Two- Three kg per durian . . . and a few hundred grammes of flesh.

Plus, it was only the Thai stuff.

I envy you, KW - let's have a durian pig-out when this covid crap lifts

Armstrong is in Thailand where durian are picked before they ripen naturally - hence the more white-ish flesh. In Malaysia and most parts of Indonesia durian are collected after they drop - darker colour. More flavour.

We had a few durian trees at the back of our factory in Chanthaburi and it was a constant battle asking our employees not to pick the durian . . . but at least we always bought durian cheaply at the markets . . . suk nim . . . not liked by the locals.

Malaysia has the longest history of durian and clone development - and is the origin of the lovely fruit - fair to say it's the best

    Deal!

    Red Prawn (D13)
Distinctive orange-hued arils that resemble prawns. Flavour profile: Soft, custardy and smooth with a creamy and bitter/sweet aftertaste.
