    Cottage pie

A quick nutritious meal for the family.

I used green beans instead of carrots..

Simmer the minced beef onion and peas for 3/4 hour,Then pour into the oven dish..

Guess what type of spoon i'm using to taste test?

Add the buttery, milky mashed potatoes on top and fork it.
Top tip- always make more mash than you need coz I thought I had and still ran out.

Chuck it in the oven for 15 minutes to brown the mash, then update TD..

Can serve with baked beans or peas

I make this fairly often as it's piss easy.

It's better to give it 40 minutes in the oven and less time simmering, then brown under a grill.

Also, less liquid prevents you getting a bubbling mess with too much liquid and not enough potato. Make gravy to pour over instead.

    No baked beans.

Can I have mine with melted cheese on top?

And the green beans/peas chopped up.

Correct, though to be fair they are called green beans in different regions, as I learned via a torrent of abuse from people that didn't have that knowledge.

    Yes, those are green beans.

I edited to make sure it was clear I was referring to the baked beans, which have their place but with gravy are an abomination.

Who the fuck uses a monitor to visit TD. I've got a secret tab on my phone next to the porn and gambling websites for TD so no one ever accidentally finds out I post on the shithole of a forum.

Looks good, however, made with Lamb mince is Shepherds Pie, Cottage Pie is made with Beef mince. Putting grated cheese on top, becomes Thatched Pie. What I find good, is before you mash the potato and add the butter, crack a raw egg into the potato also, adds another depth of richness to it. Another tip, don't mash the potato straight away, leave it for 5 minutes or so to allow more moisture to evaporate to get a drier mash. Add the butter, raw egg, S&P once the potato starts to cool.

Adding a spoonful of flour to the mince once it's cooked will add the thickness of texture that Cyrille craves.

Cheers for that info, always learning something new on here.

Wish I'd had carrots instead of peas, no offence Mendy.

^^ Oh... can I just mention that none of my entries were my own photos... they were all ripped and I cheated throughout.

In fact I think I should be disqualified.

Here's a question PAG (or anyone else living in Thailand).

I often fancy making a shepherd's pie, but where can you get lamb mince? I've never seen it and don't want to start mincing up the meat from a lamb shoulder or leg. I'd love to find a source of cheap lamb or mutton for pies and curries.
