    Overpowering Thai food aromas

What's your most overpowering aromas and smells from a Thai kitchen.

I'll kick off with steamed bamboo, the aroma seems to linger for days.

You said smells from a Thai kitchen. If that's what he's cooking in a Thai kitchen then that's the aroma from a Thai kitchen.

My missus has a fondness for homemade kimchi. Quite eye-wateringly bad. Not a chilli smell, but a "something died a few weeks ago" bad.

Worse then her pla rah, which is saying something.

^^ Not allowed in my kitchen. Ninety percent of the Thai cooking is done outside, wife prefers it that way.

    Dried squid.

Banned from eating in the house.

Same as Troy. Thai grub is cooked in the outside kitchen.

Cook Thai food outside? Why if you have a cooker hood inside? My MiL reckons food taste better if cooked on a charcoal pot. What a load of bollix.
