What part of the chicken do you use Chitty?

My wife used to use breast but now uses thigh and legs mainly because the meat is a lot more tender.

^yup, I agree. It's like using microwavable or boil-in-bag rice.

The last few months of covid, I've cooked several curries. Got the recipes from YT channel "Spice Eats" - run by an Indian couple (wife cooks, husband films & edits). Made the dishes from scratch. Had to order online some stuff like garam masala, coriander, etc since those are not readily available in supermarkets here. Fortunately, there's Lazada.

That's a lot more interesting than sabs old bachelor curry, Katie.

Just fry some onions, add a tin of baked beans, then shake in a generous dose of curry powder- and presto! Goes fine with toast. Points for style if you fry up some sliced sausage with the onion, &/or some chopped tomato.

Are you surprised at all? He did show a pic of tinned "peeled potatoes" at one point that he was using.

Using a packet of spices isn’t too big of a cheat. I do it, too. It’s pretty hard to make a spice mixture for Indian food. There are so many ingredients!

I do draw a line at a can of boiled potatoes, Joe. The shame.

    Not really.

Standards are Cumin, Coriander, Chilli and Turmeric. Then Garam Masala before serving. That dish would be piss easy to cook from scratch.

And he hasn’t just used a packet of spices, has he. His entire sauce is from a jar.

Everything except the chicken and rice is pre-prepared.

And as for a second veggie dish...well, there’s no chance, is there.

    Like I said...embarrassing.

Chicken Tikka Masala is an English, fake ‘Indian’ dish for Brit plebs.

I’d never eat it, let alone make it.

watch out, the gastro police are on patrol.

nothing wrong with a ctk if it tastes good, as ctk certainly does.

all this striving for "authenticity" is tiresome. if it tastes good then there is nothing wrong with it.

do you think that you as a farang ever get an authentic thai dish served up when you order in a restaurant in thailand, of course you dont. you get the neutered falang equivalent.

    stupid boy.

The comment says nothing about Thai food in Thailand, but quite a lot about you in Thailand. I've eaten authentic Thai food in Thai restaurants countless times, as I'm sure many posters have.

Anyway, I was going to upload some pics of a Chicken Masala and Aloo Gobi I made, mk, to show you it's not difficult...but the first picture came out sideways and I just can't be arsed.

If anyone on TD cared about this place they'd have sorted that shit out by now, so why should posters care any more?

Speak for yourself. Myself, and I know TC enjoy authentic Thai and Chinese/Thai meals both home cooked and out at restaurants all over Thailand damn near everyday. Your stereotype is much too broad. Its who you associate with in the case of sourcing out delicious Thai food.

Many other posters are also well aware of what is real and what is not.

Is there anything you're not brilliant at Cy? Apart from posting pictures to prove it obviously...

There's no hope for him, is there.

Does this idiot imagine that you, for example, sit down with your extended Thai family and get your own separate dishes cooked for you? Or (possibly even less likely) that your extended Thai family is served and eats the 'neutered farang equivalent' of Thai food?

That post isn't anywhere near boasting that I'm brilliant at anything, let alone everything.

I must be one of the least boastful posters on this entire forum.

You're getting pretty pious these days. Seems just about nobody is posting quite as you'd like them to.

We'll just have to try and not let it keep us awake at night, I guess.

Well it's generating more chat than asking chitty about his 'dinner from a jar' ever would have.

Or is the expected reply "You must give us the recipe"?

    - No, I don't think so.

A few randoms here from over the years: mutton curry, tandoori butter chicken, rogan josh, Goan vindaloo. All from scratch and all pretty easy (the chapatis are homemade too, but my missus's responsibility) with access to Youtube and a fat belly brought up on Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani food.
