^ Yeah, and they use the leftovers for ASQ.

You guys do realise I was joking when I showed that pic?

I've never understood why Thai hotels always call this an 'American Breakfast' and a 'Continental Breakfast', which probably covers a wider range than in the states, is always a croissant with jam.

Where did they get the idea to serve those ghastly hot dogs for breakfast? I never saw that in America.

I grew up eating omelets with smoked salmon for breakfast.

The fact is that English breakfast has to contain specific items to earn its name. There is no counterpart in America.
Exactly right snubs which is why I stated the US does not have a "Signature" All American Breakfast. When I lived in Southern Cal a breakfast might be Carne Asada with some fresh flour tortillas and a bowl of Pozole soup. Completely depends on where ya live and quite frankly what you are in the mood for. I would hate if we had one breakfast only. How boring would that be? Imagine eating sodium filled fat filled sausages with soft mushy beans every day.

^ JP... you seriously think that because it's called a 'Full English' that that's the only breakfast anyone in England eats?

Me too. In America breakfast is about variety really. It is about what you want at that moment. Restaurants in America can have big menus of breakfast to choose from. Pancakes, waffles, scrambles, omelets on and on. Pick the place that serves the type you like and hit it up.

I will say this. If you come to America looking for an "English breakfast" you are going to have really done your homework to find it anywhere.

Wow, how unique is it that you can choose between different kind of breakfast menus and having different kind of restaurants!

Man o Man...I am getting hungry. Lunch is few hours away. This morning was a bike ride around the area and a stop on the way back for a Cappuccino while I watched the folks at the market. Then home for a glass of OJ and now some work.

I think the wife is making Rad Na Moo for lunch. She makes a big bowl with big fat noodles

Yes, I was inspired by a version of that dish I ate in Turkey some 30 years ago when it was served to us in a small pension near Gümüsluk - came in a little beaten metal bowl accompanied by their delicious ekmek baked fresh that morning washed down by glasses of cay.
The trick is to make sure the eggs are very lightly scrambled and moistly soft - dry and crumbly and it's ruined - so keep the heat low and nurse it.

The fucking idiots here who stupidly thought it was an omelette are indeed culinary bozos but then, they are pretty much knuckle-dragging apes.

^How you going lining them ducks up so you can finally fuck off and whine about another country that totally detests your type?

Anyway, breakfast today that will no doubt be contentious due to being part English part American. 99 Baht for this and it was bloody lovely

As for what the best breakfast in the world is, the answer to that is it's whatever you'd like to eat on any given morning.

Anyone who judges hash browns by the frozen patties at McDonalds doesn’t know hash browns. Difficult to find good hash browns in Thailand, brunch at Casa Pascal in Pattaya comes to mind. Sometimes i have potato pancakes for breakfast.

Ya know Hw, Maybe he ate those ducks and now is really SOL. Of course that means we will be stuck with his regurgitated diatribe.

^There's regular sword-fights break out on local food pages over if beans are allowed on the plate unconstrained and touching other items, or if they must be in their own separate bowl. Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck either way but it's clearly a major issue among our friends from the UK

Steep haricot beans overnight and then boil until cooked, set aside. Fry strips of pancetta and smoked lardons in a little mild olive oil, add mustard powder, a dollop of molasses, a splash of white vinegar, tomato paste and cup of chicken stock, bring to the boil, simmer and add the cooked beans for about half an hour. For added interest and bulk add some quality franks sliced in half segments.

    Real beans.

I cook them briefly and drain some sauce. That way the beans hold together and remain firm but you don't get sauce all over the plate.

If only pancetta was available in C19th America we could have debunked JPPR2s assertion that nobody eats pork and beans for brekkie.
