^ No idea mate but they taste great and based upon my daily bodily functions must be working well.

To be fair baked beans, whatever canned brand you like, is absolutely bad for you even though it fills a gap in your stomach.

Actually I believe they are kidney beans which is good for you.

    No, no, no.

Just because it has added sugar (we need sugar too) doesn't take away all the benefits.

High in soluble fibre and protein, low in fat and they contribute to 1 of your 5 a day.

Soluble fibre can help lower cholesterol.

AO- it's nice to make from the ground up so to speak, but did you add any tomato paster or sugo to that culinary masterpiece? It's probably the pom in me, but that is the first thing I thought of when I saw the ingredients.

Canned food is cheap in the UK compared to AoNZ. A look online sees Watties beans at NZ$1.99 (£1.04). You lot are paying only 45p or as low as 26p for the desperados.

Tbf HNZ that is the cheapest supermarket in the UK.
Most other places sell a can of branded baked beans at a £ + a can!

I usually try to stay away from baked beans because I've been told they are a gout attack waiting to happen but I fooking love the things and today.at the shop I saw a brand I've never tried so decided to throw caution to the wind and give them bad boys a go. Fuck it you only live once and I'm fucked if I'm going let a tin of beens get the better of me. Anyway I've got plenty of colchicine and I've been on allapurinol.for months. I've also brought back some of those efferalgan soluble codeine tablets from Lao so even if there's an issue I'm all over it

Have had them before that friends brought in from Laos BLD. Can't get them in Thailand either but you can get these in the pic below (under the counter service only however) which in theory should deliver the same results as it's still a 500mg 30mg combo and they do make pain go away, but those ones you've got make you feel good too if that makes sense. Hard to explain, I get a mild happy buzz from them though.

    The Baked Bean thread-20230202_080122-jpg

Back to the beans and my education continues as the local Expat shops advertise whatever brands they can get now and the peanut gallery weigh-in on why they're no good! Too sweet, like bullets, too watery, ok cold but terrible hot, who even knew their were bean connoisseur's out there but these fuckers are taking this matter very seriously

    Me.

We've been through this, below the beans was a clear winner.

Note the Worcester Sauce on the cheese too.
