^ might be true If one happens to like baked beans. Maybe once every year is a good stretch and doubt they would ever be those sugary runny ones. Have to be a thick chili style and doubt those go well on margarine spread white bread.

I dunno Cyrille.....Its a stretch......I think I am gonna have to pass on that bean concoction. Nothing like trying to stretch a $ .50 cent can of beans.

Having a bit of fun with you "Can't live without Baked Beans in my life"......

Apparently some of you are obsessed

Mendy must know this guy as the portion sizes seem to match along with a glass of Mont Claire.

    Must be top news.....

A Mendy Friday cocktail before YaDong and Leo......or Maybe after. Maybe a poll?

and my opinion on where that bean slop should go..... straight in the shit can.

I used to be a big fan of baked beans but sadly them bad boys tend to bring on an attack of gout or so im told. Doc said give up beer and beans , so i gave up beans . The other day i was in an asian grocery and saw a can of Hunts Pork n beans and had a flashback to my philippine days when i was shacked up with bibingka betty . I nicknamed her that because that was all she knew how to make. That, and hunts beans on toast. It was a good flashback and brought back good memories. So . Cheers to the humble baked bean.

I, and I think most Americans or for sure Californians prefer to make things from scratch . A couple of months ago I made a big pot of beans. I prefer pinto beans and make them Cajun style so they are not sweet. The beginnings of our meal.

I will make a pot of beans when I have a ham hock to use up, but to me that has nothing in common with baked beans aside from having beans in it. Especially not the blue canned one.

I learned it from my Grandfather. He would always make beans and ham and ya damn good for sure. A totally different thing from baked beans.

Yup, I know Hunts Pork & Beans. It was somewhat of a treat/ rare event during my childhood. My gripe with it is that for 1 can of beans, there's only 1 measly bit of pork!

Nowadays, I buy it sometimes and eat it maybe once a month, when there's a craving. I don't buy it in cans - Hunts has now packaged it in foil packs/ sachet, which is a smaller portion than the can and can be finished in 1 sitting. I eat it plain or sometimes with white rice.

I don't eat them often, since those beans make me fart!

    ******

Speaking of legumes, I do like chickpea curry. I learned the recipe from Cooking with Chetna on YT. It's simple and fool-proof.

I tried out the Bonners beans today and they are great.

The cheapest beans on the the shelf as well. Firm, with a full body complimented by a thick and tangy sauce.

As a Christmas treat I brought over a few cans of beanz with pork sausages. I've only ever seen them in the UK. Anyway, good breakfast this morning with eggs, ham and chips.

They only beans I eat are the ones the wife puts in her chilli-con-carne and I have a serving most mornings.

They are black in colour but quite nice with the hot chilli beef based sauce.

I have not eaten standard baked beans for 10 years and consider the product shit with all its added sugar and artificial colourants.
