Lost the 20kg from burning more calories than you took in, whether you fig'd about them or not.

    Out: 2200 calories
In: 1800 calories of any type of food whatsoever
    = weight loss.

    Out: 2200 calories.
In: 2500 calories of keto friendly almond flour pancakes, a feta tuna salad in a family sized portion, and bun-less bacon cheeseburgers.
    = weight gain.

Good to see people losing weight. The common theme is daily exercise (cycling/running).

Yup. It's one of my bugbears to see food described as 'healthy' in a weight-loss context.

Get fucked, eating too much lettuce can make you gain weight.

The science behind the low carb stuff is interesting.
It's also used to control epilepsy and diabetes.

It actually debunks the calorie in calorie out theory.

In keto 'like' diets, there have been documented evidence that it has helped many people. As you say in juvenile epilepsy and diabetes.

In fast mimicking diets (FMD) over a 5 day period, the body enters into ketosis. (where the body burns fat when there is bugger all glucose in the body to burn) When the person resumes normal eating, the body is found to lose mainly visceral fat. That's the bad stuff around your organs that fucks you up. Some fat people have very little visceral fat and some skinny people have a lot.

There are also many good news stories on treatment of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a major cause of disease, be it heart ,cancer ,MS or Alzheimers etc.

Some people on Keto diets have remarkable results, some don't. Having a diet on high saturated fats is ok for some and not ok for others. The only way to find out exactly is to have your DNA sequenced and regular blood tests. (Now called Precision Medicine) That will tell you how your body processes certain food groups.

From what I have read, a diet high in animal protein, is not great for longevity, but it is great for weight loss.

Maybe if you're a caterpillar, but merely chewing lettuce actually burns more calories than humans are ingesting.. Probably.

Looks all very heavily processed. I'd take clean complex carbs over processed protein any day. In fact I do. Beans, pulses, whole grain rice make up a large part of my diet, although I've been slack as fuck this week - crisps, coke, ice cream et al. back to being a food fairy next week.

Beans and pulses are packed with estrogen. That would give me pause (insert menopause joke here).

^^ You gotta do what works for you.. nothing wrong with a balanced diet. I just like cutting carbs out (except mostly veggies), as it works for me at the moment. No cravings for chocolate or junk food which is great!

Yes, good points.. but you don't have to eat a lot of saturated fats on keto though. It is recommended to eat mainly good fats like coconut oil, olive oil, ghee, avocado's, nuts, seeds, and fatty wild fish. And it definitely gets rid of inflammation caused mostly from ingestion of carbs (processed carbs all sugar and bad fats like vegetable oils and processed foods which are laden with omega 6). It is definitely good for weight loss as it decreases you hunger and cravings because you are eating a diet high in fat, so it keeps you satiated and you aren't in that up and down cycle of wanting more sugar from a spike in insulin like a higher carb diet. That is what I like is that I feel full all the time and I can fast for 16-18 hours overnight and not be hungry.

It is the Walden Farms brand of BBQ sauce. They make products that have low to zero carbs and sugar. Some of the products don't taste that great though like their salad dressings. This bbq sauce tastes really good.

And here's another issue with these sorts of diets... Adherents to diet X, Y or Z have a tendency towards becoming evangelicals for them.

Berg himself is a chiropractor and has a vested financial interest in pushing certain points.

Keto definitely works. It's definitely also a viable long-term and relatively good option. It's also definitely not inherently better than other options.

I don't know what you mean 'looks heavily processed'.
Keto is more about AVOIDING processed food because it contains a lot of simple sugars.
A keto diet would be high in leafy green vegetable, nuts, berries, meats, eggs, cheese, and so on.
NOT processed food. (Where did you get that idea?)
