    MM's Quick Bunless BBQ Burger

I like to make a bbq burger now and then. The burger is premade frozen, but I still have to cook it and add the ingredients. Bunless because I am not eating bread at the moment so I eat it solo.

    Here's how I make it.

Fry up the frozen burger and bacon

Thought I'd get me in there.

Cook it good..well done is the best.

    [/IMGL]

Add a slice of cheddar cheese and some bacon.

Add some no carb, no sugar BBQ sauce

See what I mean.. it tastes great too!

My cat (baby) watches on in amazement. lol

Finished burger with no bun.. I usually have veggies on half my plate, but didn't feel like it tonight.

Good luck. Once I got in stride I was losing a kg and bit a week. Thats 5 kg a month after 4 months 20 kg or about 40 lbs for yanks.
Remember to keep up the green leafy vegetables. And avocados if you can get them are a good source of fat.

Good luck on your weight loss journey! I'm doing intermittent fasting now (16:8) and some exercise - I hope I can keep it up! I haven't been constant in exercising lately (it's hard to get motivated sometimes) and have gained some flab. Hope to lose them in the next few weeks. I hope too that by the 4th quarter of the year, some travel restrictions will be eased and I can do minor hikes again. At the moment, only essential travel is allowed here & I can only travel within my province.

I'm eating a normal balanced diet in normal amounts, while exercising daily (jogging or cycling every morning, upper body weights later in the day.)

    No need for silly gimmicks.

^Keto way of eating isn't a silly gimmick, far from it. But, glad what you are doing is working.

    ^^^That is encouraging, Cujo.

Thanks, I am also doing IF (16:8) two to three times a week, it is the best. Yes, hope that you can hike again soon, Katie.

If the aim is weight loss, yup, it's just a gimmick.

Use more calories (exercise) than you take in (don't be a Dill).

    = weight loss.

    It's really that simple. :-)

^It isn't always about calorie in calorie out, but that is another debate for another thread. Many carbs are just sugar.
Many people eat low carb keto way as a lifestyle. They are burning ketones as opposed to sugar. Sugar is bad for the body as are many carbs that have sugar in them.

All I know is that for me the last two meals you have posted up would be "cheat meals" for me. Maybe a couple of times a month. Both the huge salad and a bacon cheese burger are not in my daily diet. Also you posted you eat big steaks or meat portions. 150 grams or about 1/3 of a pound would be a big portion of meat for me. My one regular cheat is pasta which I cant seem to kick.

    Really?

I always thought that a ketone was merely a by-product of the body burning fat. It seems they do burn off for energy, though.

Still, some people do go on about it a bit.

    meat is low carb.
on a keto weight loss program you can eat meat , eggs, cheese, all sorts of stuff you wouldn't think.
Fat doesn't make you fat, it clogs your arteries but it doesn't make you fat.
Sugar is what gets converted to fat and any excess sugar not used as energy will be stored as fat.
The body converts carbs to sugar for use as energy. if the supply of sugar and carbs is reduced the body will use its stored energy instead (fat)

Wasn't it called 'Atkins' about 30 years ago?

So an 'oh gosh, can I eat that on a diet?' moment would only strike if you'd been living in a cave all of this century.

Similar, variations of the whole 'low (or no) carb' thing have been doing the rounds since forever.

There are no specific benefits to it though, you won't lose weight any quicker or easier on it, it's just another tool to use. MM's correct to the extent that it can be a lifestyle -- the only diets that work are those that you can stick to long term.

Ed's correct too however: why bother when you can achieve the same thing / results without depriving yourself of something. 'Any diet that excludes something is by definition not a complete diet'.

I'd make a post comparing that with what you eat, but I haven't got Numpty's Cole's notes on the topic.

That was only in the name of research! And bacon!

Off that now anyways and back on to me usual proteins / carbs / fats.

Was fun while it lasted but as I'd suspected no specific benefits to it either.

The proof is in the pudding
I'd dare say that there is a difference for some people who do this diet as opposed to eating a calorie in/calorie out diet.
That is great! I do eat a lot of veggie mainly low carb ones. I love avocado's too. There is a wealth of recipes/forums and people like you who have lost a lot of weight over time eating low carb /higher fat.

    it's all about the ketones.
just cut out carbs and see what happens.
    no
    bread
    pasta
    potatoes
    bananas
little fruit or anything that contains sugar.
I lost 20 kg in 4 months not giving a fig about calories. Just looking at the carbs.

Yes.. I know quite a bit, I've been doing research watching videos etc.. and also I was doing keto (high protein, look it up) for the past six months and lost 38 pounds already. I am switching to a higher fat keto now.
