onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, liquid smoke, butter.

Sorry, but that is not how to cook a steak. Do you not like the taste of the meat or something?

^ Those are cheap steaks. They were not well marbled. They need help. Wouldn’t do it to a nice piece of meat.

    [QUOTE=misskit;4127574]It happened again.

Two select tenderloin steaks for $10.16. Salted only two hours because I took a nap which lasted too long. It really makes the steaks dry.

Washed and dried them. Rubbed with garlic and onion powders, paprika, and pepper.

In the cast iron pan heated to medium high and starting to smoke.

Two minutes on the first side. Pats of butter to add the missing fat.

Two minutes on the other side, roll in more butter, then in the oven for 4 minutes. Potatoes already there at 450 for an hour.

    That chicken looks hungry.

    Your electrical sockets look distraught.

^ Well hh, my little part of the world is a beef wasteland. All the farmers around here grow corn and beans, nobody has any beef cattle. I shouldn't be surprised about local beef prices.

we should get a discount as our property is surrounded by that long grass they love, all the farmers come and keep it short, stops the snakes climbing our boundry wall.
most of the imported beef is not worth the price, unless you are prepared to pay 6,000-7000bht.kilo for wagyu.

That works to about 1000 Baht a Kilo Headhunter, where the hell are they trying to extort that much for what is un-arguably very low grade beef?

At Big C here they price the best cuts of KU beef (Kasetsart University, the flagship of Thai beef) at around 800 Baht a Kilo and I laugh every time I see it having been stupid enough to buy/try some once, it's borderline inedible with poor texture and flavour eating qualities. Meanwhile, Macro currently have a sale on of Australian beef and cuts like tenderloin or ribeye are about 320 Baht a Kilo.

^To be honest HH, I've never cooked brisket! Maybe worth having a look on the net and educating myself on it, have only ever had it at BBQ places where they smoke it which isn't an option when living in a condo and knowing nothing about smoking meat anyway!

They had plenty of stock a few days ago, true or not I don't know but a story going around the food groups is it was destined for China but due to current tensions they cancelled the orders.

the way i cook it,in 2kilo lumps, cover with crushed black/white peppercons, make up half pint stock[oxo cube] place in a meat tray cover with foil, cook at 140electric oven 5hrs.very very tasty.brisket is or should be one of the cheapest cuts but also the tastyst,if you can get some smoked paprika that smothered around the meat works for that smokey taste.i get mine sent from the uk.as here you need a mortgage.

If a cheap, poor quality steak, I'd rather thin slice it and flash fry it with some noodles, veg and soy sauce.

That might work for hunks of beef the Thai's buy but anyone who knows anything about a good steak is not going to mistake blood coated pork for a steak. Stop worrying about that one HH.
