    Topper's Tuna Salad

Yes, I know! Everyone knows how to make tuna salad!

    Well, this is my version....

    First you need:

That container of mayo was the only size availiable during the lockdown. It's the "heart healthy" size.

Mince the onion and onion, add tuna, mayo and seasoning.

Mix with a fork and you're done!

If I could find a bottle of the pickled jalapenos, I would have minced some up and added them in. I do have several cans of pimentos which are pretty tasty but the misses said not to add them.

    Looks good, Topper.

Mrs. Topper is right. Leave those pimentos out of the tuna salad. They are better in chicken salad.

I see a lemon in that pic. A squeeze of lemon is a nice addition to tuna salad!

What are you going to do with all of that tuna salad? It is fish so it doesn't keep.

My sandwiches for lunch for the next few days. It probably will keep for a week in the tupperware, but it's never lasted that long

I''ll add both the juice and maybe a little zest too. Thanks for the idea!

Tuna - red onion - mayo - sweet chilli sauce is another good combo for samidges and wraps.

Tuna, mayo, finely diced pickles and onions and a finely chopped egg. Now I have to put mine up as well.

Can't abide by the Thai style chilli sauces... I prefer to add the hot sauce to the sandwich rather than the salad.

Normally do use red onion, the wife couldn't get any decent ones and celery apparently doesn't exist here.

^ I’ll send you some celery seed then you can grow it yourself!

Does the Phils have a good online shopping site for grocery items? I’ve developed a habit of ordering online the things that are never in stock at the supermarket here. Shaoxing wine, dark soy sauce, stuff life that is great if I order from the same vendor and save on the shipping costs.

    There's Lazada but it's a bit sad.

@topper - there's celery but supply is hit or miss. I can usually find it in wet markets, not supermarkets.

How's the veg situation there? Do you get cold climate veg like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, etc? Most of the stock here (South Luzon) comes from Baguio city & surrounds. The romaine & other leafy/curly lettuce can grow in Tagaytay, but iceberg lettuce only grows in Baguio & surrounds (Cordillera region). It needs lower temps to form the "head". Are there areas in the mountains there where they grow these veg?

Lazada is used more for personal, household & electeonic items, not really for groceries. Unless there's a local farmers' cooperative which sells their produce online? I've seen a news article about Baguio farmers selling online to customers, but delivery only in Luzon, I think.

Re: veggies & other supplies - that's the simple island life, topper....

Strangely enough, I had tuna salad as well this evening. No pictures though, as I just drain the tuna and plonk it on the plate.

Anyway, loads of different tins of tuna and never know which one to buy. Today it was sandwich tuna in spring water. I don't mind if it comes in brine or sunflower oil. Which one do people prefer?

It used to be only brine at one time, then oil and sunflower oil was best and now spring water. I go spring water but TBH its only sandwich filling at best and it seems an ignominious end for such a fine fish.
