    What's that?
    Got a link?
    Is hers sauce or gravy?
Did you know that marinara sauce is tomato sauce but in AUSTRAYLYA, if you order spaghetti marinara, you don't get spaghetti with tomato (marinara) sauce.
You get spaghetti with fucking seafood sauce. I mean seriously, WTF? Luigi, explain.

...different terms for the same thing: Nonna always referred to her pasta toppings as sauce...friends in New York/New Jersey prefer the term gravy...

...well, my grandparents certainly talked like that...I noticed he was humming Neapolitan folk songs on the vid...I'm guessing he's from the south, maybe Calabria or thereabouts...

...Italian hour on the radio Sunday mornings...everything from folk songs to Italian arias...Nonna knew them all...

Nonna made her passata (that is what the paisano in the vid made) when my aunt's and my sister's plum tomato plants started producing in the summer. An industrious group, they put up 12-15 large jars of passata that were used in sauces for family gatherings throughout the winter.

    I remember Nonna...

    Oh dear.
Might be construed as the usual Anglo-American twists on most anything considered authentic.

Fucked up in the most peculiar manner.

What the fuck are you talking about?
Anyhoo, Australia had a lot of Italian (and Greek) Immigrants hence a lot of Italian influence in Australian food.
The Greeks quickly learned how to make the best fish and chips.

The clue to why might be in the words 'meatball' and 'subway'.

    Yeah seriously, I didn't realise. It's so gripping I couldn't look away.
    TCs souless summary aside.

Italian immigrant makes tomato sauce the old fashioned style.
    Emphasises it's 'sauce' not 'gravy'
