    Ordering Groceries Online

...as an experiment, I ordered B500 worth of groceries from the Gourmet market (Paragon) website 3 days ago. The first available delivery slot was today: all items (tomatoes, 6-pack of paper towels, lemons, UHT emergency milk) arrived as ordered within the projected time frame, as seen on their online tracking system. Great for bulky items and stuff not available in the supermarket itself...

Tom, i never use the service in the UK but out of interest the other day checked on a couple of sites. ASDA had a nearest available delivery slot of 18th April so that was 3 weeks, Morrisons 17th April. I suppose i could use a slot to secure non-perishable essentials like beer and wine ...right i'm logging on.

^ just had a peek as i left my order items in the checkout slot, there are no delivery slots for April and they don't appear to be allowing you to look at May. Looks like i missed the boat.

Villa Market (at least here in Phuket) also do delivery for a nominal charge. Haven't used very often as prefer to select meat etc myself, handy though for some items.

Some years ago I ventured into Villa's branch near Sukhumvit Soi 33/1 Bkk after some grog in the nearby Robin Hood pub. Eschewing their frozen sausages (one never knows how many times they might have been defrosted) I picked up some bread and vegetables when I spotted a curious looking cauliflower that sported a sell-by date of a week or so hence but it was unlike any cauliflower I had ever seen before. It had evidently been cut all over its surface florets into what resembled a multifaceted diamond pattern and on closer inspection it was clear what had happened - some poor bastard had been detailed to excise all the blackened spores of mould that had formed on the cauliflower head and had re-packaged it to appear 'fresh'.
