Chicken Parm-i/y/a/esan, created when some culinary genius thought a tomatoe sauce and cheese pizza base might go ok on top of fried chicken. They weren't wrong

Haggis, mashed swede, mashed potato, peas and black pudding with gravy. No carrots were harmed in making this Jock meal.

Aaah. Proper Scots meal then. Why would Dirk be upset? What was the deviation?

Aaah. Of course. You’ve also gone for Mendip sized servings.

    Haggis with black pudding!

    Controversial!

    Did they taste differently?

I am completely ok with this.

In fact, a proper Full Scottish breakfast will have a slice each of black pudding and haggis.

    That's a yes from me.

    It's happened again.

I had this Isaan soup plonked in front of me again today. I'm getting it once a week, every week... well the dogs are on the quiet after I've picked out the few nice bits.

I'm going to have to sit down with the wife and say something tonight or I fear this will go on forever. Wish me luck.

I do like a bit of mashed swede, it's been a while since I saw any.

Mendip, you are right, action required.

Careful, your wife is slaving over a hot stove to make you a favourite lunch, and all of a sudden you want to complain about it?

    Braver man than me!

^ It surely is a delicate situation... but I can't keep eating this every week.

And to be fair there was minimal 'slaving' involved. She picked it up at a friend's food stall and brought it home in a plastic bag. I sometimes wonder if we are the only customers.

There's no luck involved mate, you're a worldly Oil and Gas man that looks danger in the eye for a living so ironing out a Thai wife serving questionable soup will be easier than opening a tin of beans.

At least she is thoughtful enough to buy you some! Spending hard earned cash on you too!

I had a similar situation with the wife years ago she insisted on bringing this soup full of animal body parts that have no business being in a soup or anywhere else tripe ,featured largely. Even now just thinking about tripe gives me the boak . I just couldn't stomach it ( no pun intended) as far as offal goes liver and kidney ok , anything else is a solid NO. Some of the things in those bowls of soup would of made a hard core Scotsman like dirk diggler heave.

I don’t do tubes or eyeballs so please make sure it’s all minced into something unrecognizable.

^What's you plan defrosting the whole 5kg piece? That's a lot of meat!
