Occasionally our local Mexican restaurant will do burgers as a special.....

One thing I can say about the restaurant, you don't get picture fooked....meaning the food looks one way in the picture and another on your plate.

    For example:

    Here's their picture from FB....

    Lunch ... the second course-pasabor-burger-jpg

What was delivered, still hot from the restaurant (it's right around the corner)

Gotta say, it looks a whole lot better without that plate.

    ^ That's it?

Overcook it and it could be used as playdough.

It is actually the same burger!
Which beg the question, how long ago was the picture posted on FB?

This is the problem with being such a good husband. When I'm asked how a lunch was, my standard answer is, 'yeah, it was nice'.

I've found that this causes no trouble and the rest of the day will go smoothly. What it also means is that I'm now getting served up this offal Isaan soup every week. I like liver and kidneys, fried up with onions or in a pie but I'm not so keen on blood cubes and pig's intestines.

But I still eat it and still say that it was nice. How can I change now? The wife will ask why I didn't tell her 15 years ago.

I'd get myself a full medical check up somewhere far away. Bumrungrad would be far enough. Then I'd return home with a story about a rare medical condition having been diagnosed, as a result of which the doctor instructed me to avod blood and guts. For ever. Which is a tragedy, what with that wonderful Isan soup you make that I like so much.

I had a similar predicament just now, Mendy:

However, dogs were rather fond of my quick and simple solution:

^ Married life is a minefield... I would get found out immediately trying to distribute my offal soup amongst six dogs. The whole thing is a bit annoying as there's some left over spaghetti carbonara in the fridge that I had my eye on.

^^^ I like that idea Shutree. Bumrungrad ain't a bad location for a hospital visit, either.

In fact I have a genuine passport trip in Bangkok next week, plus an offshore survival which I can't say that I'm looking forward to. Could be a busy week!

^Get some comfort food you can't get in the Boonies while you're in Banga's, that'll sort you out. Are you a fan of donuts?

You'd need to stay somewhere close by, so that you can be sure to walk there in time for those early appointments. Soi 4 works for me.

^^ Yes, very good HW... probably lost on many.

I'll maybe Green you for that when I can, if I survive.

^ Shutree, I'm gonna terminate this discussion right now.

Was gonna have a late lunch of coconut chicken breast on rice, but think I'll skip it now after seeing that picture of the inside of a pig's arse in soup.

    I persevered.

Cheddo's tip for a top, if utterly unphotogenic, meal of post-workout chicken breast.

Had a big Tom kha gai yesterday, with a good bit of left over soup.

Chuck it into a slow cooker with full chicken breasts, then once slow cooked, pull the breasts into chunks with a fork, reduce, and save for lunch the next day.

Delisherous moist slow-cooked coconut chicken breast.

And the same with Tom Yam, obviously.

Appears to be the favoured fashion with mac-n-cheese these days - the dry baked/rebaked variety. Always overcooked.
Some might appreciate the loose creamy casserole style, as it will come across more of what a mac-n-cheese is suppose to be.
