Win-win. Also with the slow cooker I don't spend time browning any meat or pre-frying anything. Saves time and energy and washing up.
Exactly, and using the cheaper cuts like shin, shirt, cheek etc which are more flavourful.

I'm a bean convert, cheap in cans and i use rosecoco and cannellini, i like black beans but i can't find them in cans, i have dried ones. They break up a bit and thicken the stew too.

Being lazy, I use the beans in cans. I mix up whatever beans I feel like. Makro here usually has black beans in cans.

A couple of school lunches here in Mongolia

The first is Maantan Buuz, these are dumplings made with dough then steamed. Filling can be beef or mutton, but our school only used beef. Actually one of my favorite Mongolian dishes, although I much prefer my side to be an unhealthy potato salad

Lunch 2- Narin Makh- stewed chunks of beef, with rice. Veggies and a tofu salad on the side- not my favorite when made at school, as imo it needs more seasoning. A very standard quick dish when stopping for a rest stop on long haul buses. The local aunties at these places do a much better (and unhealthier) version of it.

Had worse school lunches in Myanmar- while they may not look that appealing, at least lunch in Mongolia has never sent me to the ER room for a drip of antibiotics.
Not from the canteen, but from the bakery across the road-a Friday treat for pudding

The lunches are tasty and filling, you certainly won't starve. Tangent rant: It really boils my piss how much food gets wasted at school.

In Thailand, the waste is usually fed to someone's pigs or chickens. At all the schools I've worked at, the food waste is taken for animal usage.

We went back to Delicioso today, still no waygu beef club sandwich, the bastards. However, their deli prices are very cheap compared to the other deli in town.

My fish and chips with a cold one. Not bad and the beer was pretty good too.
