^ In Norway it's always 'Taco Friday' but that makes no sense at all.

It was 'Larb moo Wednesday' in Korat today.

I asked for a 'Stumpy special' with liver and cucumber.

Mrs Mendip de-bagged it and brought it upstairs, but I think that was her only 'cooking' involvement. She picked it up while at the Amphur offices this morning sorting out this permission formso I can take the daughter away to Blighty in a few days. It seems she was successful and I now have this one page form... but it's all in squiggles and could well be a parking ticket for all I know.

Ya think you should get it translated just so you know what it says? Maybe even a certified translation from the MFA in Bangkok? Any excuse.....

" Verp " ( as it's scraped into the garbage) and that is not a Stumpy Special. A Stumpy Special is ground tenderlion and pork roast. No fat, no dog food liver and cucumbers are not allowed in the kitchen.

Tuscan Thursday? Well, could be, or at least a Spaghetti Bolognese. Eat pasta quite often, but rarely spaghetti. Anyway, gather the makings for the ragu.

First, fry off some finely chopped bacon in olive oil until turned crispy.

Then add some onion, carrot, celery, garlic, and fresh rosemary, all of which have been finely chopped in a processor.

Once the veg has softened, add the beef mince, mix together and cook until the mince is browned.

Then add a couple of tins of plum tomatoes, a glass of red wine, some dried oregano, chopped fresh basil, and halved cherry tomatoes, a crumbled beef stock cube, and a good squeeze of tomato puree.

Bring to the boil and simmer for an hour or so.

A handful of parmesan cheese stirred into the sauce.

There you have it, even TC's Nonna would have loved it.

Meanwhile, M'Sahib is going for a Clam fest. A friend of hers collects the clams from one of the beaches, and she dropped off a large bag last night.

Started off by frying off the obligatory garlic and chilli.

Adding the clams and some fresh basil.

No idea what else she puts in, but it smells good.

    Ready to go.

These would actually go well with pasta, though she's having a side of rice.

I don't think we had 'Shake'n'Bake' in the UK and I'd never heard of it before, but every time you mention it HW, all I can think of is this...

(Sorry for the off-topic and I'm sure you look nothing like this while you're 'Shake'n'Baking')

I'd never heard of it either till seeing it in an American supermarket. Good God It's the bomb, equally good on chicken and pork. If you ever see it just buy it, trust me.
