^ Mackerel is a nice fish but can turn bad quickly, so a good supplier is important to ensure it's fresh.
Speaking of fish, it's becoming increasingly difficult to get a good variety of fresh fish here, and the prices are horrendous . . . so we find ourselves eating less fish and more meat or simply no meat. Surprising for an island nation . . . 95% of caught fish is exported and 75% of aquaculture is exported - simply ridiculous . . . the same goes for meats, fruits etc...
A nation that can feed itself five times over but exports 95% and charges an arm and a leg domestically. In KL you can buy NZ fish cheaper than here.
Anyway . . .
Mrs Hat cooked up a storm for lunch . . . simply fabulous sweet pork ribs with shallots, garlic and ginger . . . all I know is that she adds brown sugar, brown and white vinegar, sesame seeds sprinkled on top . . . and it tastes very, very good.
Veggie dish was also very tasty with asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, capsicum (bell peppers), onions, garlic and ginger . . . in a light brown sauce
. . . washed down with a cold Blackberry cider.
As it is spring and a lovely 25 degrees we ate outside by the pool, which has a lovely temperature of 12 degrees
Burp . . .
