^^ I was trying to change the mood from Mendip blowing his nose, but I have to admit that his post will go down in TD folklore.

On the lunch thread too.
Anyone wanna hire the sick fucker as an after dinner speaker, or imagine him as your best man. Yeah, maybe not
^ it's thousand island sauce instead of tomato.
I'm not sure if I'm currently retching due to the memories of the thousand island 'pizza' sauce, or Mendip's tale.
Edmond H. Christ.
Strigils, I do sometimes wonder if I'm holding it together.
I think that when you're living quite an isolated lifestyle it can be easy to lose some self awareness and maybe drift off at times. Six months work in the west was no problem... I held it together with professional people and even had some meaningful conversations but here in Korat my time is spent with six dogs and a nine year-old. And don't forget my gardener who just has a standard 'yes, boss' answer to anything I say... and then continues fukking something up as though I don't exist.
None of them really pick me up on my bad habits, although the daughter is fast becoming quite critical. And when I say 'isolated lifestyle', there's loads of people around of course but my Thai/Isaan is limited and the few conversations I get the gist of don't really interest me. I like my dogs.
But anyway, apologies if the lunch thread wasn't the ideal place for my nose blowing story but I don't think there's a thread that's a perfect fit.
And... the purpose of this post... the 'hairy beef'... this is a new one on me but what else to call it?
It was quite nice by the way, especially dipped in the chilli sauce... but then my nose started to run...
And Mendip pops my Ignore List's cherry.
I'm actually going to regale that story to a GF tonight, just to gauge the reaction.
'This bloke online called Dillinger was eating spicy food right, but there were no tissues around....'
Poor ole mendip. Cant get away with anything out there in the bowels of issan, cant even have a wank without the gardener catching him and now this.
Today's (Sunday) local elections and resultant 24 hour alcohol ban brought our Sunday lunch with a couple of friends a day early on Saturday. Tried a new place for us, 'Rustic and Blue By The Sea', on the outskirts of Rawai. I believe that they have another restaurant with the same theme in Chiang Mai.
Anyway, good location, quiet with excellent views over the sea at Rawai and some of the adjacent islands. Service was very good, as was the food. Surprisingly quite busy which is reassuring for its longevity. They opened in Phuket in March last year, just in time for the lockdowns and decimation of visitors.
Don't often see this in Phuket restaurants.
They specialise in craft fruit drinks, smoothies, and coffees.
A tuna tartar kept M'Sahib happy.
My buddy's wife went for a vegan burger.
My buddy tried a half rack of ribs.
With me going for what was a light version of a Sunday roast with beef.
Some necessary lubricant.
Ladies dessert selections.
We shared a cheese plate which came with some warm muesli bread.
Couple of shots of the view.
That looks very decent.
Desserts and Cheese a bit underwhelming.
That redcurrant thing looks like its been sitting there for a few days.
Mains look good.
As does the location.
^Tough crowd. I would happily stab someone in the eye with a fork to have a go at that.
No words needed really...
