I knew a bloke who was either a plasterer or a painter who bought such a degree and was teaching at a Thai primary school as an English teacher.

Obviously dodgy as fuck and a chancer.

he then met a girl, she got pregnant and he had to marry her.

he was wise enough to enact his exit plan instead of remain in Thailand forever.

I do believe Catholics have a "Fish Friday" cause they don't eat "meat" on Friday...as I recall.

When I was growing up it was only during lent, but the pope has changed all that now anyway Catholics only need abstain from meat on Good Friday only (I think).

I'm a left footer and it's always been traditional in our house to have "Fish Friday." Both grandparents were Irish and regularly attended church, mind.

Even for those of us who aren't religious, Fridays are often meant to be meat free (at least when I'm at home anyway).

Still the same these days and I do sometimes think of it when I'm tucking into my mixed kebab after 8 pints.

Hairy bacon, cabbage and potatoes.

None of that chain fast food rubbish for me. Lunch not at the world famous French Laundry (Tomcat knows), but at a laundrette handily located between two fish and chip shops.

And that annoying jingle from the door of the 7 /11 and the disappointment of realising you didn't wind your watch and the beer fridge is not only locked but has a curtain over the contents. Which may or may not be considerate? Or just having a fucking laugh.

Crayfish for lunch.

Lamb plov (pilaf) yesterday and it was bloody lovely. Tender lamb and the fat was almost as good as the meat.

The owner is Uzbek and I realised they were playing Islamic prayers before asking for a beer along with my food.

Fortunately, he wasn't there, so I brought my own and wallowed in the shame/glory of my haramness.

Lamp and lamb. Both bringing great joy to mankind.
