^ To get serious for a moment (didficult I know with some people), these comments may be what stops some posting relevant, Thai related content?
I know it puts me off at times.
I've had no meat and gravy on my bloody shorts.
Roast pork sandwich with all the trimmings AND apple sauce with a mug of hot leek and potato soup. Perfect for a cold winter's day.
It wasn't a particularly good photo so you'll just have to imagine the soup.

Could have possibly blended that into a spread for a more even flavour experience.
Found a cluster of small Japanese restaurants downtown vientiane

Is that Katsu with the tempura prawns
Yes katsu curry
Chicken Vindaloo

vindaloo is always good but there is so much else wrong in that pic :)
You’re right, it didn’t have steamed rice in the menu picture.
Fukin Jocks :)
What on earth do you mean?
Who the fuk eats reamed rice
When you consider that the curry probably took 2mins + 2mins in the microwave and the roti and popadums took 30 seconds each in a frying pan, while the rice is already standing by in the rice cooker, I’d have probably chose not to wait 30 mins for basmati rice, if given the option.
Yesterday's lunch...sausage sandwich

Today's was a chicken sandwich with the leftover peri peri chicken...yummy.

Keep your Gai Yang and spicy shite - i'm having electrolux chicken and nobody is having any of me pert bird
Attachment 96490
Rookie error..you should have covered the drip pan in foil, it does look nice though (the bird, not the pan, the pan will be a bitch to clean). What did you coat the bird in, used motor oil? :)
We went to a buffet at the swankiest hotel in town today....completely underwhelming both in ambiance and food quality. On the bright side, beer was included in the price. Won't be back.
I hesitantly post this for fear of being accused of producing 'slop', yes, Stumpy I am on to you.
A simple ham with mashed potato and a few veggies. The gardener brought over some rice as without the wife 'in residence', the rice cooker has had a rare break from it's 24/7 duties.

I offered a range of mustards and even made up a cheese sauce... well, it is special day after all.
https://teakdoor.com/attachment.php?...6&d=1672573240
And yet the gardener smothered his ham with tomato ketchup. At least the daughter didn't follow suit or I mat have had a word.

And if you're wondering about our fancy cutlery...
Yes, a free Christmas green bauble if you know where this came from?

^ can't beat a boiled ham Mendip, great spread - just ignore the Mercan, in fact fuk em given the shite they push worldwide they have a nerve on here.
grain, Dijon or English
Mike, if you are anywhere near Korat try out 'Korat Chef'. That is where I got the ham from, it was great and and not expensive. I fact I think I'll pick one up every couple of weeks from now on to keep something healthier for snacks than that square, slimy ham from Makro.
^ my village shop used to cook their own hams, Wiltshire cured. I used to get 1lb a weeks for sandwiches and it was fantastic, the owner used to always over add on weight but he'd nick a slice and gobble it before he packed it - god i miss that ham, real home cured and cooked.
i understand the son is upping his game, about time too after years of mediocrity, seems he twigged on that there's money to be made if you do it right, homemade meat products i mean - now if he can just produce some decent sausages, not the over herbed/spiced stuff his dad did 10 years ago :)
Another Xmas dinner today, coz my sons girlfriend missed out the first time...
Hells kitchen in full swing, nice of them all to wash up after.

I had cross words with the wife this morning and a few hours later she plonked this 'Isaan soup' in front of me for lunch.
I'm not at all squeamish about food and like liver, can eat heart no problem but I'm not so keen on pig intestines and really don't like the blood cubes. I think I need to make up with her before tomorrow's lunch.

Yes I'm buying whole hams and slicing them up at home instead of buying XXX amount of grams from supermarket deli's these days too Mendip. Ham and cheese toasties or ham and salad samidges both taste better now.

Don't overestimate me Jeff... they say that you learn something new every day but I seem to have lost that ability and just repeatedly make the same mistakes.
But one thing I have learnt... a moody wife isn't conducive to getting a decent meal so I gave her one of my best smiles this morning and it seems to have done the trick. She's in much better humour today and plonked this in front of me for lunch.

I can't remember if she said it was chicken basil or pork basil, but either way it was very nice and a vast improvement on yesterday's pig intestine soup.

^ Larb or Namtok? :)
^Looks like a Larb, looks pretty good too!
Left-over roast chook and cheddar with hot sauce toastie for lunch today, a tasty combo.

^^ I don't really know, to be honest. It looked a bit larbish, as HW mentioned.
I'm not even sure if it was chicken or pork, although I suspect pork. I don't like to ask too many questions while we're getting on so well!
Edit. That does look good HW!
We can get Kraft AND Hellman's mayonnaise in Korat now and I can never decide which one I like best. Of course Kraft has the advantage of coming in plastic jars that don't smash if you drop them on the kitchen floor.
