^^ Still looks nice... even a day later!

Some more local cuisine, but without Luigi's backdrop!

The wife just plonked this down in front of me... and I thought I'd been good the last few days as well.

    Fried pig's intestines...

Grilled pork chop, mashed potato, sliced apple in a brandy sauce. Oh, and a glass of white (red not so good today).

She fried it in extra virgin coconut oil the other day. That smoke would have hit Indonesia. Thinking of trading her in for an Indian.
    Imagine dinner then?

You can get away with pan-frying chicken breast BUT you need to pound it with a meat mallet till it's almost flat first so it cooks very quickly.

I find it works better/just as well to apply pressure with a spatula while its cooking.

Would disagree completely with that. In fact about the worst thing you can do to any protein is to press it while it's cooking, guess what all the liquid which gets forced out is...

Never heard about that before and guess that there is no plain coconut oil for sale anymore.
The producers have prolly gone through a phase when they all added virgin to the name and then someone wanted to be different from the mass and called his product extra virgin, making the others to follow.
Look out for that triple virgin coconut oil in the future..

Had a wee holiday recently. Flights and Hotels are cheap.

Excuse the crappy photos ... I usually use my phone to make calls

    Lunch ... the second course-20200317_132056-medium-copy-jpg

    A Chicken Caesar Salad.

    • Cos Lettuce
    • Bacon
    • Parmesan Cheese
    • 1 egg (poached I think)
    • Croutons (think a small sliced baguette) with garlic
    • Dressing

The other meal came from the Kid's Menu, but don't discount that as the Barra was delish!

    Lunch ... the second course-20200317_132100-copy-jpg

    Barramundi in Batter
    • Garden Salad
    • Chips

Bit of a decent view ...

    Lunch ... the second course-20200317_132109-medium-copy-2-jpg

    Verdict ...

The "Barramundi in Batter" ... superb, would be wasted on my kids!

The salad was fine, the fish perfectly cooked and tasty.

Chips were crunchy, maybe double fried?

The Tomato Sauce, that perfect slightly peppery, almost tangy.

    Couldn't fault it.

    ---

The Chicken Caesar Salad ... great.

Chicken was a little dry, but the house dressing made up for it.
Almost hollandaise in nature, but a little heavier.

    Full as at the finish.

Am I allowed to lick the plate?

At the current exchange rate, close on a 1,000 Baht ... you pay a bit for the view!

A couple of lunches from the Robin Hood on Sukhumvit from the last couple of days. I much prefer to eat at lunchtime if the choice is there.

    Fish an' chips.

Yesterday was my birthday so I thought bollox to anything healthy, just enjoy meself.

Sausage, egg and chips! With an extra side order for my special day!

Would you believe the only person who remembered my birthday was me mum... and she called to say hello just as my birthday meal was plonked down in front of me. It all went bladdy cold.
