Yeah, looks a bit like getting married in Patterz rather than sticking with delivery.
There are some great bakeries here. The Indians love their roti and there are loads of places to buy fresh bread and foods from back home.Although the Malay seem to love their sweet bread like the Thais.
I'm still not getting any bread smell although it is still on rise and will be on bake next.
^ I spent around four years living in Kuantan, the other side of the peninsula from where I guess you are.
One of my favourite breakfasts was the roti canai with dahl. I much prefer Indian food to Thai food.
One thing about homemade bread... it makes great fishing bait. It's usually so hard and stodgy it stays on the hook really well.
Dilly? Pictures? Taste Test? Too ashamed???
I passed my Breadmaker on to one of my sisters.
It was great first thing in the morning just hot out of the machine, two doorsteps with carved butter slabs. The problems is that i wanted the bread for sandwiches and no matter what i tried with variying ingredients the fooking bread just started to get crumbly by day two. The sandwiches literally fell apart. Gave up after about 6 weeks. Was a top of the range panasonic, great crust.
Yeah, apparently this freshly baked stuff without oodles of preservatives doesn't last long. I'm sure I remember a time, as a nipper, when eggs, bread and milk lasted about 10% of the time they last nowadays.
Dilly is back to the 70s.
&, we need to see that bread cut open and a taste test.
Cycling should be banned!!!
^ it does have a great crust. Takes some sawing through.
On closer inspection its like a bread crumpet cross..Result
^ you've fuk'd that up, Dilly - it's not supposed to be like that!
But, you may be onto something; this could be your second million on the way!
Chiabata?.
Should this be in the Malaysian cooking thread.
^ How many Brumpets shall I put you down for bruv?
Crumpet bread would be a master stroke. Contact Hovis, Dilly, they will be creaming their panties when they hear about this!!!
^ that does look nice, but it's not crumpet-bread... &, Dilly's Brumpret loaves are perfectly square.
Trendy fashions tend to pass in time.
As will this one.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
Well done. Your first one. Sod what it looks like if it tastes nice.
When you say medium loaf in size/weight, is that 500gms or 750?
Here's what i do for a 500 gm loaf;
340 gms flour, 240 ml water,
teaspoon of yeast may be too much unless its a 750 gm loaf, ditto salt & sugar.
I know all bread machines are slightly different but a medium crust 500 gm loaf in mine is 3.35 hrs and a 1kg loaf is 3.55 hrs.
Keep at it.
Oh, and i now substitute olive oil for butter, just easier in measuring and throwing all the ingredients in.
