    Blue Cheese - Serving Suggestions

I've received a 1/2 kilo block of blue cheese from Siamburi at the wallet screaming price of 99B.

    My plans.....

    Blue cheese dressing

Blue cheese and spinach stuffed boneless chicken thighs.

A simple sprinkle on a burger.

Any recommendation for the other quarter kilo?

You could stretch it out and wait for father xmas to bring the port....

    Or

Freeze in small blocks and defrost and mix with Mayo for Blue Cheese burgers over following months

    Or

Broccoli & Stilton (Blue Cheese) Soup which again will freeze

    Or

Again you can freeze pasta bakes - make a mushroom, garlic and blue cheese bake

really Blue cheese is strong enough for a little to go a long way - fukin love the stuff me self.

Stick it on some hot toast then squash it with a fork or knife before devouring. Delisherous.

If you are trying to get rid of a bird, rub it round your bell end if you know she's going down later.

As it is with some decent bread, on a 4 cheese pizza (quattro formaggi if you wanna sound sophisticated) or on a steak in a blue cheese sauce.

    All winners.

Blue Cheese with a very good gutsy (peaty) Whiskey .Like an Ardberg 10 year old. They go together like a hand in a glove. Sublime

On crackers if you must, but a sip of Whiskey and then a munch on a good blue cheese(Stilton) is just outstanding.

Make a dip for firecracker shrimp, buffalo wings or celery..

1 cup blue cheese crumbles (about 4.5 oz)
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp buttermilk (you can get away with milk)
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper
Keeps for a week in the fridge

Freezing cheese makes it crumbly on defrosting. Better to buy grated cheese. It comes pre crumbled. But maybe Blue Cheese isn't the same?

Properly stored, a wedge of Blue cheese will last for about 1 to 2 months in the refrigerator. ... To freeze a wedge of Blue cheese: Cut the cheese into portions no larger than 1/2 pound each, and wrap tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic freezer wrap, or place inside a heavy-duty freezer bag.

That'll work, crumbling some thru a salad makes a nice change too. I like it on crackers, but ideally with a few other cheeses on the side and some things like pickles and olives and grapes on the plate too.

Agree, blue cheese makes a great dip. Here is something I often made. Not anymore can't find the clams in the sticks.

    Thanks for the suggestions,

I made the dressing this evening, the cheese is pretty good...nice and crumbly with a decent tang to it. I'll let it sit overnight in the fridge and give a try tomorrow.

I'm definitely going to use it as an evening snack rather than having dinner along with the 1/2 kilo of smoked salmon.
