Just had a quick look and couldn't find a Press online in Thailand anyway, I bought mine from a Central in Bangkok about 15 years ago!

Will buy the internals to do a toasted ham-cheese-tomato-onion next shopping run, and post a pic.

^ FFS... you really think that my life in Korat is so bereft (thank you Cyrille) of meaningful activities and stimuli that I have time to cut out a cardboard template of my desired bread slice size, and then walk around various grocery stores and supermarkets with said template and compare it with the size of sliced bread on offer? And furthermore, embarrass not only myself but doubtless my wife as well by taking pictures of these comparisons? Just for your amusement?

Do you really think I have time for all that?

But just in case... I've measured the Breville and it's 120mm I'm after and it came in a good cardboard box, so making the template is no problem.

    I'm on to it!

I know... WTF could get anal about bread size?

But anyway, I've been doing some investigating tonight and I reckon I have a window of 115mm to 120mm slice size, although that of course doesn't take into account any filling.

As any hydrographic surveyor knows you have to take into account the curvature of the earth, or the bulge in the bread.

As I'm off work just now and my brain is taking a break, I'm just gonna look for any bread between 115mm and 130mm slice dimensions.

To be honest, and I really can't believe I'm thinking this... I'm quite looking forward to getting into something meaningful to occupy meself tomorrow.

The white "English" bread in the Mall near the supermarket is a decent size.

Tesco ready sliced bread is only about 110mm.

^ I an sure the Makro stuff will fit, they come in quite long loaves, i usually break them down and freeze 1/2 and given you are toasting the freezing shouldn't affect it at all.

An English friend got me onto these a few decades ago. Quick and simple and you can moderate how much marge or butter you want on the bread.

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but bread is measured in inches.

    The jaffle maker is made for standard square bread (L x W x H) 4.00" x 4.00" x ?" (depends on how it's sliced).

Check out Mendip's upside down ruler. 4" slices would fit in lovely once you fill it and squash it down a bit.

Please also take into account the raised diagonal lip that cuts your sarnie into half when you close the lid spreads the bread out a bit more.

That Thai Farmhouse bread isn't standard, As mentioned above, go for the Macro ARO brand stuff.

I made some meat pies using wholemeal bread slices as the pastry in a Brevelle pie maker. Quick cheap and easy, Also did the same with finely chopped apple and brown sugar, no cooking required, results are delicious.

    ^ FFS... it never ends.

Try finding a ruler with inches here? I have a 4 metre metal tape measure with imperial marked up, but I'd look a right twat walking around the bakery section in Tesco with that.

Get real Bogon... do you have a tip or not?

The height doesn't depend on how it's sliced at all, it's how much dough you put in your tin which affects how much it will rise above it.

"In America, what recipes call a “standard loaf pan” is 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches. If a store sells only one size of loaf pan, this is probably it. If you own one loaf pan, it should probably be this size. But larger loaf pans are not uncommon, either in stores or for recipes."

I'll measure our bread pans tomorrow and see where we're at. Our loaves do stand quite tall.

^^ Agree. I should have stated that I was on about per slice, not the whole loaf.
