    Alcoholic ginger beer.

I have been thinking of getting into making ginger beer. Chitty's wine making reminded me of this thought.
So I did a google search, and low and behold, the first instructional looks like it was made in Thailand!

Has anyone done this? Is anyone interested in doing this?
I have a heap of Hong Tong bottles, would they do for bottling, screw caps innit?

Illegal under Section 5 of the Thai Liquors Act (1950), which was updated in 2016 with the fine for brewing it raised to 100,000thb and/or 6 months in the clinky, and a 50,000 fine and/or 6 months in the clinky for selling it.

Probably won't stop you though, so let us know how it goes.

    Idiots.

When I was a kid my grandfather used to give me a bottle of Crabbie’s Green Ginger every Christmas. Think the brand went tits up years ago but the hankering for alcohol ginger beer remains.

In NZ there was, (and still maybe) Stones Green Ginger Wine. Used mainly in cocktails I think, but a drinkable drop if you have only one at Xmas.

Does anyone know where to get wine yeast as per the OP recipe, and on another note, does anyone know the chap in the vid, being Thailand and all?

I drank an alcoholic Crabbies Ginger beer a couple of weeks ago that I bought in Tops. Not bad, but I prefer a non-alcoholic ginger beer.

in oztraylia we have been undergoing a "craft" beer revival an you can purchase various types of alcoholic ginger beer, Matso's is one of the premier brands, also you can purchase alcoholic lemonade, and from first hand experience they are fuggin superb.

i wish this bloody country would join the 20th century and allow us proper folk to choose the appropriate tipple of choice and allow us to get thoroughly messed up !

    drunk moose.

When I was young I used to make alcoholic ginger beer. It had a strange effect. You got the alcohol effects AND the hangover at the same time. So you had a lunchtime, got wiped and felt terrible with a forehead headache that could only be relieved by real beer.

By all means make it but realise its a lesson to be learnt and "never again'ed".

Hmmm, I feel Steven Colbert could use that information. (re Stormy Daniels). I'm sure he'd come up with a cracker joke.

In Chitty's wine thread I posted a link to a counter-top home distillation unit that also serves as a water purifyer (thus can not be illegal to import...or may be already available in Oz).
In NZ you can home brew and home distill, you just can't sell the alcohol. I would love to have one of those moonshine copper stills in my garage.

Here's a supplier in NZ, just to give you an idea.
