And I have to say, it sure does look revolting as fuck and lacks pretty much any redeeming qualities but the absolute worst part of it is that I'd probably still eat it.

Mortadella, tuna and mayo and cheese.

I really don't see the revolt in it.

Loads of protein in there(and sodium and fat)

I don't know what you guys had a sangers growing up but ... 'Devon' sausage was probably once a week.

If someone had some fancy olives in it ... WOG BOY

I'm sure someone, somewhere will find that a racist comment!

My two favourite school lunch samidges were sliced tomatoe - heavy on the salt and pepper, and chopped up roast chicken with thousand island sauce. Still make and really enjoy both even now

^ Sounds great, maybe a lettuce leaf in there too. Will try that one. I fancy a Prawn Cocktail now

^It's possible to turn a Prawn Cocktail into a seriously good manwhich. This would make top-5 on my if you had to chose your last meal list.

Whatever everyone's views on the 'manwich', I think it's sweet that your wife still cuts them into triangles for you.

Such little acts of endearment seem to be long gone for me. I'd be lucky to get a plate.

Packets of crisps just get smaller and smaller.

That's the whole bag on there...

Who knows mate... it was a bit tongue in cheek to be honest, and the sarnies won't be a deal breaker!

^ And the packets are opaque now so you can't see how few are inside when you buy them.

My pride in my young daughter continues.

Two nights ago she asked for steak and kidney pie. I said that we only had tinned Fray Bentos pies, and she came out with the immortal words...

"Any steak and kidney pie is better than no steak and kidney pie"

    My heart swelled!

Anyway, last night it was sausage, egg and chips. Unfortunately it didn't look great, but I thought my daughter's sausage, egg, chip, peas and sweetcorn manwich was worthy of a pic!

When cooking for myself the issue of aesthetics doesn't even register, it is ALL about what works best for me personally with regards to taste. If it looks good is not even a secondary issue, it all looks pretty much the same on the way back out.
