Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoy a good massaman, but to call it the king of curries is way OTT, especially on a list that does not include even one Indian curry.

However, any list that does not include duck confit is clearly not worth the time it took to compile.....

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. First of all, good Massaman is hard to find even in Thailand. Yes, it's a curry type food but I agree it's weird and lazy that they didn't mention one actual Indian curry. There could easily be five of those on that list.
Can't disagree about duck confit either.
Of course, any list of 50 is going to leave hundreds of arguably better dishes to many out.

Massaman? It's nice but reminds me too much of Burmese oil curries. Now, a good southern Thai jungle curry is different! It's a TC says, entirely subjective. Huge swathes of Indian, Chinese and Middle Eastern dishes are absent.

Maybe the trend of choice was to omit third world countries.

Probably explains cuy being left off.

Bolivia likely won't win any prizes. OK, the siete lunares joints in Sucre have decent chorizo, but other than that...not a lot to get excited about on the Altiplano.

But buttered popcorn? I ask you. And massaman does not come from Thailand- it is Malay. The donuts shown I wouldn't touch with yours. And aussie style chicken parmi? Cheap pub grub. Ketchup- well it's certainly ubiquitous, but give me HP sauce anytime.

Not one lamb dish either. Reckon I could have compiled a better list meself.

No Reese's cups either.

...I wonder which members of the "CNN travel staff" actually "scoured the world" for their recommendations: white folks all? A few Asians?...the ethnicity of the writers may have played a role in their selections...
