Especially in the sticks. Most everyone I know hasn't partaken forever.
Location and provincial systems will vary greatly, though.

It is possible, and even become somewhat common to install a decent filtration system within the household flow making the in-house tap water palatable.


I've been known to consume system water without ill effect, yet certainly wouldn't make a habit of it.

What would be the major ill effects from drinking what is clear water from a tap that is not from rusted or unused pipe supply.

You don't know what's in the water just because its clear. My tap water is perfectly clear and utterly toxic. This according to the municipal authority that puts out the water in the first place. And in this case it has nothing to do with the pipes, its a contamination problem at the actual source.

Obviously you'd rather see it clear but color doesn't tell you what you're drinking.

Buy a tester and test it.
