Eldest child made this last week at school and ate half of it on the way home, first time he's made anything edible in home economics at school.
Parents around the world dread that sentence" Daddy i need 4 tablespoons of Golden syrup, 200g of Porridge oats, 50g of sugar, 100g of butter and an 8" round oven proof cake tin!" For tomorrow and it's bedtime 9 O'clock at night and most shops are shut!
BTW those are the ingredients for the desert below, it takes 30 minutes and tastes ruddy wonderful.
Give it a go! You won't be disappointed!!
Measure out the ingredients...
50g of Sugar..
200g of porridge oats..
100g of Butter..
Mix it all together in a saucepan on a low heat, then squash down into your greased cake tin..
Firmly does it..
20 minutes in the oven at gas mark 5, take out and leave to sit for 30 minutes then serve with cream, chips, custard or whatever you like. I chose red berries freshly picked from our garden.
Not bad..
