    Chitty's Miracle Chicken soup..

We've all heard the Jewish housewife's story about Chicken soup chasing away the cold.

Everyone's got a cold or a cough in our home at the moment, so i decided to put it to the test and we're not disappointed.

    Chittychangchangs Chicken soup recipe.......

Ingredients : 1/2 kg of Chicken breast
    5 Potatoes
    2 cloves of garlic
    1 carrot
    1 small onion
    salt and pepper

First chop up the chicken and boil in a litre of water.

While the chicken is boiling add the chopped up veggies and some salt n pepper.

Boil together for 10 mins then simmer for 30 mins more.

This is the tricky part, so no drinking Chang at this point in the procedure

Get your 500w hand held blender at the ready and .....blend the ingredients into a fine soup.

Leave simmer for a further 10 mins giving yourself enough time to butter the bread and neck another Chang.

May you never suffer from a cold again...

    I see you're rocking a Braun MultiQuick 500.

    Impressive.

However, a real soup-smith would do the job with a manual whisk.

I therefore declare this Miracle creation null and void.

Time flies, nearly four years on.

With a house full of flu afflicted kids I decided to crack on with my miracle chicken soup.

Same as before but I didn't blend mine, everyone had two bowls full so it must have been very nice.

    Let's hope it cures everyone..

Put a little oil in the bottom of your soup pot and turn heat to medium high.

Drop in your onion and stir until it smells good and going transparent. Add in a teaspoon or so of your garlic and stir. Drop in a teaspoon each of cumin and paprika.

Give it a couple of stirs and your kitchen should be smelling great. Add you canr of tomatoes and can of corn. Add four cups of chicken broth (or four cups water and 4 teaspoons of bullion.)

Drop in your shredded chicken and bring to a boil.

    Hey, I’m not finished!

If using corn chips, put them into the bottom of the individual bowls. Add your avocado slices and/ or sour cream on top.

You will be doubling it for your family.

Whether it can ever be replicated remains to be seen, but this is perfection and a solid 10 from me.

^ Are you freezing all your meat drippings for later use?

That part had me confused as well. I have heard of boiling the bones of say pork, beef, or chicken to make a stock but never heard of the drippings. Seems that would be an awfully greasy soup.

My lady does that. She freezes the stock using an ice cube tray and then puts the cubes in a ziplock bag which she keeps in the freezer to always have homemade stock on hand.

Stock is different from drippings. You avoid the fat when reserving stock.
