    Mango Wine

Mango harvest this year is huge, with lots of sweet fruit on the market. Has anyone tried making Mango wine? Seems it would have potential.

    Noooooooo!! Yuck.

With the money you would spend on getting all the paraphinalea to brew your Mango Wine you could probably buy a few cases of decent bottled French or Ozzie plonk.

    Just make juice, sorbet etc.

    Chutney, that would be nice.

Haven't had my hand in making a mango wine, per se, but have enjoyed a potent distilled liquor from mangoes - quite the extensive process.

We do all that already. Having a tad of experience using late harvest grapes to make deep Zinfandels, the sugar content of Mangoes is enticing. Am sure it would take a lot of trial and error however to get something exceptional.

Not wine but making mango bread tomorrow morning. The first batch turned out more like a bread pudding but it taste good, just heavy. Mango wine sounds like a good thing, lots of natural sugar to build on.

Quite a few Mango wineries in and around Darwin turning out commercial mango wines.
A good recipe and process should turn out a drinkable wine..

    But isn't it too sweet?

Nothing so bad as a sweet wine.

Good luck, i hope the alcohol level is high. Knock me out after a couple of glasses. I have drunk homebrew wine before. It can be lethal.

That's true! Part of the trick with the over-sweet Zin grapes was to find a yeast that could keep going to the high alcohol content. If not, you get that awful sweet taste, but get it right, and it turns out well.
