    Egg yolk recipes?

Will be making my Black Forest pavlova today, and, will be left with seven egg yolks. I've looked on the interweb thingy for recipes and have come up with a few contenders. I've also found out you can freeze them if you know what you'll use them in (need to add a little salt or sugar to the yolk before freezing)

I just wondered if any of you had tried & tested recipes, using egg yolks? I prefer to try something that someone else has done a few times & loves, if possible. Mr NR is against going down the hollandaise/aioli/mayo route, though, so I'm wanting more food recipes rather than sauce ones.

    Cheers

Egg and bacon pies. Alternatively, make a shed-load of (any type) of pies and use as egg wash!

    Carbonara.

Fry some bacon bits and garlic and onions. Stir into cream and egg yolks and grated cheese. Cook pasta and then SLOWLY incorporate the cream, egg mix to make a nice creamy sexy pasta dish.

Or make the above and bake it to make a posh mac and cheese.

If you incorporate too quickly the eggs will scramble and won't be good. Use lots of cream. And if you make it properly is also good cold for those middle of the night munchy moments.

Yeah, I'm never left with egg yolks - just whites from making spag carbonara.

    I don't use onions, though.

So - any chance of seeing the pavlova recipe, nr?

It failed and ended up with the outside bits being used in an Eton mess. Still tasted good, though.
I have done some research and think I know what went wrong. The recipe called for the sugar to be added in two halves, but according to my research, that's asking for trouble. It should be added spoonful by spoonful and then beaten in after each spoon. The recipe also said the meringue should be removed from the oven after the hour cooking, but the research indicated that it should be left in the switched off oven until the oven has cooled, or even overnight to dry completely, So effort number 2 will be next week, probably midweek. Be a shame to let kirsch soaked cherries sit in the cupboard for too long...

^ humidity, monkey boy. Even happens in cold climates when it's pissing down with rain.

I even used the wrong bowl. Plastic. OK, no mistakes, next time...

when i get my new tent i'll do just that

if i ever have enough egg yolks left over i might make a pavlova

not sure which tent would be best to accomplish said task

I'm thinking that next time I'm in thailand I'd like to cook eggs outside, maybe in a tent

what range of tents can you buy in thailand for such a purpose?

and what kind of price are they?

also, are the tents made differently..... you can get boiling hot in english tents, even in wales, when the sun is out.... I'm worried this might effect my egg cooking
