When I want classic style I get this;
pomodoro, fresh mozzarella, spicy salami, basil, evoo
And sometimes this;
But if it is game time or just on a more regular basis I as an American still go for the old standby. Something more like this;
Goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, black olives, sun dried tomatos and basil pizza made in my daughter's wood fired pizza oven.
Salami, onion, green capsicum and a touch of fresh chilli on a thin crust.
I rather think that bsnub and the pics above may make you have to eat those words...preferably on a BettyOopsAhMayBeWrongga Pizza.....decorated with a hint of trilby.Originally Posted by Bettyboo

As an American, especially one who has never visited New York City, I am apparently unqualified to have an opinion on pizza. So here is my unqualified opinion.
Since commercially available pizza is typically crap, over-priced, or over-priced crap, I long ago devised my own recipe using common ingredients that I can make wherever I'm staying and have access to an oven or covered barbecue. My pizza is scratch made with Italian sausage, onion, roasted peppers and a few olives, all topped with a sprinkling of (in this case) Gruyere cheese. My sauce is dried tomato pesto. I made this large (11" x 14") pizza below for my wife and I and our 14 year old grandson. He did not leave the table until he finished off the whole thing.

Anchovies! You forgot the anchovies. The green olives I can overlook.
Otherwise, thats a fine mess you have gotten into, Ollie.
I like bread pizza. I make it in home with butter on bread and some stufings of tomato and onion on it. Then I bake it to get whole cooked from top and bottom. I put some sweet tomato sauce on it after baking to get better taste.
Just plain cheese pizza from one of the local House of Pizzas we have in New Hampshire or Massachusetts, greasy pizza made by Greek-Americans usually.
Prosciutto crudo, mozzarella cheese and tomato is my favourite.
Yep, the yanks taught the world how to do decent pizza.
There is a great little pizza joint under the BTS station at Asoke. They have the real deal by the slice. Great little deli too selling imported Italian meats and cheeses. Italian style pizza, rustic with fresh ingredients.
Think you are on about Pala Pizza Humbert?
Always seems to have customers (the location helps).
Here's a linky if anyones interested...Pala Pizza front page
...and a map...
Little Italy at the bottom of Soi 23 do reasonable sliced pizza (or they did about 4 years ago).Originally Posted by Humbert
^Always meant to try it, maybe I did years ago. New York style pizza I think. Pala (thanks Bogon) is like a slice of Italy. They pile an assortment of thinly sliced Italian meats on and the crust is delicious.
That place is nothing like Italy when it comes to pizza. Dough much too thick and bread like. Nice enuff gaff but the pizza is not very good.Originally Posted by Humbert
