Pork brain is very nice actually. So is lamb and beef brain. If you are too squeamish for the thought, you should consider going veg!

The brain is a very good source of iron, vitamins B6 and B12 (the latter is found in few foods and is important in preventing anemia and nerve disease) and vitamins C and E.
The brain contains Omega-3 and other exceptional nutrients for the nervous system. In addition, the antioxidants obtained from brain consumption protect the brain and bone marrow.

As long as it is not raw monkey brain in the opened skull, I might consider trying. But then maybe not.

But seriously, can it be worse than oyster with lemon juice?

Crumbed and pan fried lambs brain aussie style is a good way to start. Often sprinkled with capers.
I recall a sliced beef brain a la Provencal', with a mildly spiced pumpkin puree. Delectable- but you are looking at a slice of brain.

If the oyster is fresh, few things are better.

I would try that no problem.

My mum often tells ma about eating sheep brain spread on toast during the war but I don't ever remember trying it. Is it even possible to buy brains in the UK now after the consequences of the mad cow disease in the 80s which, I believe, stopped the sale of animal nervous systems?

In Norway I've eaten smalahove which is basically half a sheep's head on a plate, brains and all.

And you won't eat the delicacies that are on offer here in Isaan?
As for me I just couldn't do it, eat brains that is.

I used to go into the Oxford Cafe in Missoula Montana years ago and calve's brains and eggs was on the menu. Tried it once and it was not bad. The Oxford has now been transformed into a yuppie hangout with all the outsiders moving into Montana so it is off the menu.

Sheep brain spread on toast is just about the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of. I prefer red raspberry jam, even cinnamon sugar is good. Just no reason to eat brains, there are just so many better things out there to eat, like well...dirt.

I have eaten fish shit, in Isaan (of course). It comes from a type of fish that only eats a particular kind of algae- quite a local delicacy. But once was enough. Oh, and did I tell you about the times I have eaten cows placenta, aka afterbirth? Surprisingly nice actually, although I am glad they only told me after I had first ingested it!

I've lived in Isaan for fifteen years now, but never felt the need to eat fish shit or afterbirth. I suppose if I was a "real man" I would go to the market and buy me some of those grilled chicken guts on a stick, with a couple baby chicks still in the egg, smothered in rotten fish sauce. Doesn't mean I am not adventurous, this mornings breakfast was mashed up chicken embryos with some fermented cows milk sprinkled on top.

Have eaten all sorts of brains. Rate as ok but would not go out of my way to find a brain market. The subtitles on the vid are quite humorous so worth a watch.

"Load with salt" and add "detonator" brought a smile.
