    (appears) very easy, cheers.

It'd be great if you can include the recipe items on the video, perhaps on the subtitles or something like that or flash up a page etc.

Do you mean the ingredients and weights? I will do that in future for you.

This is very easy to do and also you can use it with various fillings and coatings - cream, jam, meringue, marshmallow, ice cream, fruit, pastry cream etc. So not just a Christmas recipe, just a christmas version

^a Filipino chef that I follow, he puts the ingredients & measurements in the description box below the vids. He has 350k + subscribers and his vids usually get thousands of views. Granted, he has a production team helping him and he also has a restaurant of his own. When I started watching him (early pandemic time), he had 100k+ subs. Now 9 months later, he has 350k + subs. From what I've seen, the successful cooking channels - they show their faces & have a lively personality. People "follow" the channel, not only for the food but also for person.

Some of the ppl I watch are: Simpol (Filipino), Spice & Pans (Chinese Singaporean), Maangchi (Korean), Asian at home (Korean), Souped Up Recipes (Chinese). They all have 100k+ subs. I'm not snobbish about sub count, but I like watching the person cook, smile, interact & taste the food afterwards. Just my 2 cents.

    Happy holidays to all!

Thanks for the advice, as much as i would love an income from youtube, its not a priority of mine. I really just do it because i like to think that it might just inspire one kid to cook something more than a microwave meal. Maybe one day i will put some time and effort into making it a full time job.

As for showing my face, thats a no go currently. The culinary school that i work for would not be best pleased if they found out that i was teaching lessons for free considering they make a big fat paycheck from the students in my classes. I cant risk my mediocre paycheck for the sake of a hobby. Again maybe one day if i can make it a full time job that may be an option.

Finally, i will never be a youtube personality, im not the sort of person that is likable. I dislike a lot of the entertainment that comes with youtube, i just want to see how its made and go and make it, no frills, so that how i make the tutorials.

All that being said, if youtube want to throw a ridiculous amount of money at me, i will dance around in a clown costume and cook someone elses recipes while claiming they are my own while making people laugh.

    ^thanks for the explanation.

I think a lot of the successful cooking channels started out as hobbies. But when they got many subscribers & the $$ started raking in, then they had to be more "showbiz" - invest in better cameras, be more pretty on screen, be more engaging, etc.

Maangchi, the Korean woman, has 5.2 M subs and has had her channel since 2007 or 08, I think. She also has her own website, so she's a pro at it. She also had meet ups of her subs in New York city a few years ago - the viewers each brought a Korean dish and it was a big potluck party. Some of the recipes aren't her own - they're traditional Korean dishes and she's showing the audience how she made it.

I understand the reason for not showing your face. Some YouTubers don't. But the most successful YouTubers do - whether it's electronic gadget reviews, cooking, travel, expat or lifestyle vlogs. It's just the way it is - you're somewhat a celebrity if you are on YT.

A lot of showbiz ppl here in PI started YT channels during the pandemic. Filming of shows stopped, and they had no income, so they turned to YT. Depending on the popularity of the person, the vids sometimes get 100k+ views. It's a free market economy.

Cheers & good luck in your YT channel!
