    There is little difference between a casserole and a stew. A purist would say that a casserole goes in the oven, heating the dish from all directions, while a stew goes on the stovetop and is heated from the bottom.

    You can call it a flux capacitor if it resonates with you, it can be cooked on the stove, slow cooker, oven, microwave, sous vide or pressure cooker. All i know is that its easy ti make and damn tasty!

    Not boring at all. I might have a bash in the slow cooker, which can get away with the generally poor beef around here.
    Beef stock might be another challenge. More research required.

    Oxo cubes would be fine, at a real push you could use beef gravy (make sure to leave out the flour if doing this) as i said before, this one can be substituted to hell and it still comes out well!
    Make sure to post some pictures!
