    it is a wobulator

for analog vibration probes on rotating machinery , which means mostly compressors - bently nevada gear is the electronics normally - the probes are basically analog proximity sensors.

there is a micrometer on the disc which you use to set the amount of wobble

but as accelerometers have gotten better , most gear with vibration sensors comes with them - and you use a shaker table to check them
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

    Along the right lines.

The sheave wheel motor on our TMS (Tether Management System) had an oil leak. We had a spare hour so we decided to change out the motor, except that SOAB was fkn seized on there solid. We were committed, however, so this ended yo being an 8 hour job.

what we see in the picture above is 4 guys, 1 per bolt, trying, and eventually succeeding to jack that motor off the sheave wheel keyway.

Was a cvnt of a job.

    Pic won’t load.
    Lang may yer lum reek...

I appreciate you efforts I struggled to break a corner of a Ritter Sport out of the freezer recently. An old engineer told me before he died Ernie "Always grease your nuts!"
