    Anyone for Monopoly?

I've been ordered to get a Monopoly set. Sounds easy enough, off to Lazada, have it delivered in a couple of days and we'll soon have them learning the hard way about property and high finance; sort of, if we went back 50 years, except in that time capitalism has turned this simple task into a minefield.

They have Hasbro Monopoly, Frozen, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Rustic, and loads of others, most of the branded ones around 5k, and can't see what's in the box to justify more than a hundred squids.

Another problem is that there are so many regular monopoly sets at different prices, and I imagine most are standard Chinese crap quality that will start falling apart after a few games. Again, can only see the box, can't touch, and buying blind is not the brightest thing to do.

So, has anyone bought a Monopoly set online in the past couple of years, plain no frills like we used to have in the good days, before they came up with bombardment and packaging tweaks to confuse and gouge us?

Where did you see that? On Lazada Malaysia they are about 1,200 baht.

Its Monopoly Classic that you want.

You can download it on PS4 and save yourself the tidying up and the worry of losing pieces or of the poor craftsmanship and it falling apart.

Not the same as physically extorting the rent for two hotels on Mayfair though.

We were at a Thai friend's house when their son asked if we wanted to play Moeno poley.

When they came back with the box we tried to not embarrass the family too much when exclaiming, ahh, mon-op-o-lee.

Trivial matter though I don't expect you to notice the wee difference between $20 and >£100.

Thanks, looks like Classic it will be.
Our PS3 was gathering dust so we sent it to die at the village c2010-12, now it's pointless getting a PS4 as I'm committed to the PS5 when it's launched in Nov, which may be delayed due to the chink virus.

There's a cheat version on Lazada, not sure how it works but might allow more than one hotel per property.

Anyway that's a weak tactic, don't buy hotels esp early on, only houses until approaching the endgame by which time the likely winner is either foregone or it's a face off being decided by a poor roll or two. Name of the game is monopoly, so monopolise the limited availability of houses, fill your properties up with them; this forces others to move from undeveloped to fully developed in a single move which they may be either unable to afford or it leaves them strapped for cash, vulnerable, and once there every roll is a potential catastrophe.

The person who wears the green hat keeps an excellent set of books. Or employs a beautiful assistant, to keep/cook the books and keeps the "fruit juice/booze/coke/smokes" flowing.

Try being the banker or book keeper. Or swap the banker with the least wealthy - property value + cash.

The person who wears the green hat can be allowed to manipulate the game/ housing market, by reducing/increasing loan interest rates at 15 minute intervals . Either to jump-start the market, allowing the "less loaded" but important into the market or the punish the "flash 'arry's" lnto selling their Mayfair Mansions at a loss to meet margin calls.

After a few games, it can become chaos or pin dropping, serious.
