    what has not been considered is that this is russian

    I postulate that it is also a russian doll so thus there could be more fractions of images inside

    If the Russian dolls are pregnant and produce baby dolls, how many generations does it take for the increased number of dolls, to make any discernable error to the answer.

    Absolute classic book series. The movie was a definite disapointment from Zafods wrongly positioned heads flicking from one to the other, to Marvin who looked more like a cuddly toy than a manic depressive robot. In short bloody awful but the series, although dated, was much better.
    BTW the answer is 15.

    I'm not trying to point out that you're wrong, but...It is impossible for the The Question and The Answer to be known in the same universe, therefore you are wrong, sorry to say.
    Unless you don't know the question, in which case you may be right!

    I don't have an "official" answer, just my own which is 43.
    I've been wrong before but

    Boot = 10
    Eskimo = 5
    Bino = 4

    Boot 10 + guy wearing two boots and holding bino= 29 + 1/2 bino = 41 (10+5+20+4+2)

    Prisoners' dilemma: an oldie to keep the mind active.

    Police nick you and your mate for a crime, keep you incommunicado, and make the following offer to each:

    We don't have enough evidence to convict you on the more serious charge, but if you both remain silent we do have enough to convict you for lesser offences so that you each get 2 years.

    If you grass on your mate and he doesn't grass on you, you walk free and he does 10 years. Same same, if you do not grass on him but he grasses on you, he walks free and you get 10 years.

    If you both confess and grass on each other, you will get 5 years apiece.

    What is your best strategy?

    Ask to see their proof as a first step, then probably keep shtum.

    But of course, it depends on if you actually committed the crime(s) and which country you were in.

    There is no defined answer to the prisoners dilema. Only potential strategies.

    It takes a professional gambler to calculate the odds.

    If you keep quiet, it's either 2 or 10 years, if you rat, it's 0 or 5.

    And you have to trust that your mate has calculated those odds too, and knows you well enough.
    So if it was me and a mate, I'd keep quiet, take the 2 years.
    If it was me and Lu, I'd trust that he'd rat, so I'd speak up and regretfully take the 5.

    and you multiply before adding.

    so its boot + ((geezer+bins+boots)x2)

    5+((5+4+10)x2) =43.
    Micro boots would cost less

    There is a clear strategy under what's called game theory, which applies to real life situations, though it takes some working out.

    Yes, but in game theory it is taken for granted that both participants will hedge and confess, ie the me and Lu choice.
    I contend that if I did a crime with one of my real mates, silence is the absolute best option. My mates have honour and they know I do too.

    So you'd trust your partner in crime, no matter who he or she was?

    You clearly didn't comprehend my answer to the problem.
    But hey...we know you have issues with logic and English, so allowances must be made.
