Dolphin swimming?

It seems that the oasis sea world swimming with dolphins thingy is currently suspended. This might be an enourmous dissatisfier for my daughter.

Anybody who has any information on that?

Where was this? I've been in TH 12 years and never knew you could swim with some poor dolphins here.

Swim with Dolphins at Oasis Sea World
Just before Laem Sing beach is the Oasis Sea World which attracts visitors who wish to swim with dolphins and delight in watching the exciting dolphin shows.

Laem Sing is only 3 km from Oasis sea world where they have an entertaining dolphin show every hour. The dolphins are mainly those accidentally caught in fisherman's nets in the Gulf of Thailand. Trained by Thai experts, they are now capable of showing off their high degree of ability. There are five shows daily.

• Entry fee & show is priced at B180 per person.
• Swimming with Dolphins is B400 per person extra.
• This includes the small tourist surcharge.
• Taxi drop off and pick up service available.

You can swim with the dolphins in a separate pool after each show for up to a whole hour.

Oasis sea world is still open and the show must go on! However the dolphins swimming pool is currently undergoing essential maintenance. The work is taking longer than anyone expected but we have been told that swimming with dolphins will be available from the end of March 2011. when we visited the Oasis Sea World back in about the MArch time frame, the swim with the dolphin area was still closed. it was a dissapointment. However, one might try the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya. We were there several years ago and they not only had a dolphin show but had a limited swim with the dolphin opportunity for an additional fee. I'd call prior to going if this is specifically what your interested in.

My mate was nearly killed by a dolphin when it had a youngster swimming with her so if they are breeding maybe they close it for safety reasons

one has to question both the intelligence and the sanity of anyone who would want to visit, interact with, or otherwise engage with a captured intelligent creature that has been imprisoned and forcibly "trained" to perform unatural acts.
bringing children up to think this is a good thing is just plain irresponsible.

set the poor things free. performing for tourists while being held captive by profiteering thai businessmen is a fate worse than death.

thankfully these magnificent creatures are fighting back, many injuries and accidents now reported.

[at]taxexile You're probably right. No you're right. And yes, I'm a sucker trying to do a pleasure for my daughterwhose biggest wish is to "Swim with Dolphins" ever since she was four years old. Best thing probably is that the thingy is suspended indefenitely.

By the way, wouldn't like to see my daughter nor my wife "performing" with sabaii sabaii's dolphin ;-)

great for the kids but mostly ruskies when i went in 2009, didnt want to go in the first place as i cant stand zoo's and that kinda thing

I think questioning the intelligence or sanity of someone who wants to see animals in captivity is pretty dumb in itself

Were you never taken to the circus as a kid, or the zoo, safari park, or aquariums ?

I had a dog, cat, chicken, rabbits,cockatiels, budgies, gerbils, fish, hamster and a guinea pig.

Cruel, unfair ? probably, but all them pets were loved and lived to a longer age than they would in the wild

there is a big difference between keeping domesticated animals such as cats and dogs as household pets, and capturing large wild animals and confining them in small enclosures.

keeping a bird in a cage is cruelty, and keeping fish in tanks is cruelty.

yes, i went with my parents to zoos and circuses when i was a kid, and probably enjoyed it. when i was old enough to think for myself i came to the conclusion that imprisoning animals is cruel and doesnt really benefit them.

what happens to unmolested animals in the wild is governed by the laws of nature, and yes, nature can be also be cruel, but its nature, and nature is not for humanity to mess with.

keeping an undomesticated animal locked up whilst then claiming to love it is twisted thinking.

setting it free would have been loving it.
