^ thanks; about 300 years since the first chapel was built here. We have three small sapphire mines operating near home, around Ploy Waen, but have had no luck finding any in our garden (yet)
A first missionary chapel was built at the site in 1711. It was enlarged and rebuilt four times during the nineteenth century,mainly due to the immigration of Vietnamese Christians fleeing religious persecution in their home-country.
In 1909 it was rebuilt in its current Gothic style.
It is located at the Chanthanimit Road on the left bank of the Chanthaburi River.
