Nice thing about staying this side is you get to keep your car. the other thing is...
3 years ago I came about a girl on Ko Samet that had been pissing about with a boy. He had picked her up and dropped her, dislocating her shoulder. He was now nowhere to be seen, and her friends as well. She was in agony! I took a quick look and realise her shoulder was out so I went to the police station and another farang went to the medical centre to get help. I wondered around the police station for 20 mins shouting "sawadee kap" but no one appeared. I went back to the girl and was met by the other farang, who also had no luck. I then went to a bar where I know the owner and he arranged a speed boat at 3 am. The boat operator was told to wait for the ambulance in Ban Phe, also arranged by the bar owner. I met her again 4PM 2 days later, all strapped up. The guy had approached her on the beach out of nowhere and picked her up a sort of "hello darlin" and being pissed dropped her. She walking behind had not been seen dropped by her friends and when they got where they were oing noticed her missing. etc...... No help on Ko Samet, may be now. Not then.

Yep, that's the one. Here's the hotel website:

    http://www.baansiri.com/en_01_baansiri.php

Going east, it's between the Novotel and and the massive new twin-tower Marriott that's being built.
Continuing east, around the corner from the Marriott is Wang Khaew resort, a huge park-like complex, with bungalows and houses for rent. Quite scenic, with hills, bays & beaches, it is quite often used as filming location by Thai soaps.
Growing accomodations options in the area, which has seen a construction boom in recent years.
More of a family/relaxation scene than the banana pancake vibe you find on Ko Samet. To each his own.

I know how to get there and most of the beaches from daytrips in the past, it is the first time I have stayed there overnight and it is a holiday weekend so I think I had better book in advance
I'm Mark (aussie) I run Bedrock Guesthouse Bar & Grill in Ban Phe opposite Koh Samet. My opinion is Samet is a great island although the seasonable pricing can be an issue. We take many of our customers for day trips to the different beaches and on snorkeling tours etc and we dont seem to get many complaints about the island. Why not try sinsamut resort on sai kiew beach. Ive stayed there it was pretty good. Other than that dont book just go have a look at a few places and check out there rooms and then make yr decision

    Cheers Mark

Me & my wife usually stay at Silver Sands - 1500 baht for a nice room - but they have this stupid thumping music till 3 am - real downer. Next beach along from Jep's. If you want a cheap place stay at Jeps.

    Old thread

Regardless: I stay at Tok's little hut next to Jep's. I stay in the cheapo rooms which are very very basic but at 300 baht/night I'm not complaining. The thai food at the restaurant is quite good as well.
