These are all my personal photos, I didn't copy them from anywhere. I've lived in Thailand since 2004 and have made numerous visits to Koh Chang. I used to ride there on my motorcycle, now I take the bus. Koh Chang is currently locked down but I'm hoping it will be opened up at the end of the month because I'm itching to make another visit. My last visit was nearly two months ago.
My favorite place to stay is the Emerald Cove Resort which opened the same year I moved to Thailand. It was owned by Amari then and was even nicer, Amari sold the property several years ago. Except for the few suites, rooms are all the same except the view from the balcony, so I book the cheapest room. Sea View rooms are double the price and I'm not willing to pay the surcharge after living in View Talay 6 a couple years. During my most recent visit, in late November, they upgraded me to a sea view room anyway when the resort cleared out on Sunday. Here are a few photos from that stay.
Here are some photos from earlier visits
Sometimes the resort features live music
I really like the pizza at the resort, particularly the seafood pizza, but also the pepperoni pizza, with one of their fine cocktails.
Another resort I recommend, just two doors down, is the Dewa Resort
Like the Emerald Cove, features a huge pool
There's a swim-up bar at the kids pool. Lucky bastards!.
Wifi coverage good enough to use at the pool
I've stayed at many other places on the island, too many to profile.
About a 20 minute walk from these resorts is Kae Bae Walking Street
I stop at the Burger Station along the way for a tasty one
I wasn't in the mood to bar fine but the girls were desparate for customers, so I bought them a few lady drinks.
The second largest bar area now (used to be the largest), is at White Sands near the Chon Buri Resort. The white building acts as a short time room and is where most of the girls live.
This is Len from Korat. She caught my eye and I went back after dark and bar fined her. I knew she was very new to the bar business because I could beat her at pool. I was charged 300 baht for use of the room, which was very small and basic. Probably should have done her a favor and brought her back with me.
Not far from the resort is Khlong Phlu waterfall.
Roads are hazardous at the northern and southern ends.
The hairpin turn at Lonely Beach
The east coast is rarely seen by tourists, but there are a couple resorts
The Than Mayom Waterfall on the east coast hardly compares with Khlong Phlu, but you can re-use your park ticket for entry.
There's a small fishing village in the southeast corner, and you can see Bang Bao just a km away, but I don't think there's a road. It takes an hour to circle the island on motorbike. Must be a footpath somewhere for the locals.
Bang Bao has some dive shops, some suvernior shops, and some seafood restaurants.
From here, you can get connections to Koh Mak and Koh Kood during high season
