Rayong for a 2-3 Day Break.

Thinking of taking Lil Luigietta on a 2-3 day mini-road trip/beach break, someplace quiet.

Usually if going by road we'd go 200km or so South of Hua Hin.

Might go the other direction this time.

Passed through Rayong a few times on the way to Koh Chang etc, stayed there once in 2008, but on a secluded resort up on a hill out of the town.

Would go mid-week for 2 nights.

Any experience of a short beach break there? any places to recommend?

Would be for sitting in a deckchair on a quiet, clean-ish beach, eating and drinking and reading while she wanders off, hopefully to show up again later.

    Grazie-o.

Or any other place along that stretch of coast. Would want a place on, or just opposite the beach.

I was in Mae Phim on Friday on an inspection. I really liked the feel of the area and the beach looked good. Apparently it is very popular with Scandis.

^ Are the implants supposed to fall out in the swimming pool? They look a bit like gray modeling clay.

Do you wanna borrow her for Luigietta for a few days, she can tread water for hours now and makes a great flotation device.

A small beach with local resorts can be had at Ao Tan Khu. It's about 2 or 3 km north of the Koh Chang ferry port. Clean sandy beach, Thai food and resorts. 500 to 1000 /room per night. Busy with locals at the weekend, not so much weekdays.

Even a few rocks for the

    picture we await.

Head south from Chanthaburi turn right off the Bangkok road at 3156 (Saen Tung) towards Trat Airport. Follow the signs for Kho Chang ferry and hang a right 2 or 3 km before reaching the port.

Sure, variety is the spice of life. Send Little Miss Low Self Esteem along for the ride.

Do we use the air pump at gas stations? 32 psi?

^^^ Thanks, but it's all booked already.

Mae Pim beach, will check out the dolphin show. Any other nice places to go to in the immediate region? Decent restaurants or places to go to? Ahem, massage places, should I lose her in the market.

Marriot 9.5km away in Klaeng looks nice. Has its own stretch of private beach, 3 lovely pools, fantastic buffet and a great kids club.

Too quick off the mark there with the credit card.

If you want QUIET and nice Bann Pae Cabana Resort but it is out of town so you'll need wheels but not as far as Mae Phim.:-)

    ^ One Bedroom Bungalow, 2 nights, 3,600b.

    Hardly Dillinger-esque in it's pricing.
