    Marina Bayfront Condominium, SriRacha...

    ...anybody know about this place?

Is it likely to be built? Is it an ok area to have an occasional beach property?

    Marina Bayfront Sriracha Condominium

I've been thinking about buying a cheap condo (1 million baht ishhhh) near a beach to relax from time to time. Chonburi area is only about 90 minutes drive (or sooooo) away from my house; close is good. I don't want Pattaya, would prefer somewhere like Chaam, but from Nakhon Nayok I can cut across country and get to this part of the coast quite quickly.

    Any thoughts?
    Cycling should be banned!!!

My first thought was to note the use of the word 'bay' while you use the word 'beach'.

Yeah, you know - by the water.

I quite like simple places like Chaam which have a nice beach and local market, etc, so any other suggestions would be welcome. I just saw this, thought it looked quite nice, but don't know the area well.

Just early thoughts really, and I'm easy.

    What does that mean?

I've seen these places take loads of money and never be built... I've seen others which are really quite nice and in ok locations.

    ???

    I do get the appeal.
Problem is of course that within easy reach of bkk and 'pleasant' is very difficult if not impossible to find.
I have friends in Sri Racha and worked pretty near there for 3 years. It's...OK as somewhere to live if you work in the area. Not sure it quite cuts it as a holiday home.
We spent two years on and off scouting beachside locations...and then bought in Chiang Mai.

^ thanks for the input, Cyrille.

If I still lived in Thonburi then I'd find a place in Chaam - it was only an hour and a half down Rama2, and it's a nice place, imho. But, it'll take me 3 and a half hours from NN which I don't want as I could get to Don Muang in little over an hour and fly to Krabi... I am kinda thinking about Krabi; always liked it down there.

But, the Chonburi area is close, so if there's anywhere similar ish to Chaam, or even quieter would be fine, around that area, I'd be interested.

    Might even think about Chantaburi.

I know some folks like SriRacha, so thought it might be decent?

    EIA = Environmental Impact Assessment

This might be worth a read: bangkoklegal.wordpress.com/environmental-impact-assessments-thailand-condominiums

EIA stands for 'back handers have been paid'. Unfortunately Somchai is a member of the "DNA", the National Dyslexics Association.

Well 1 million Baht won't buy much in a building such as in your link. I would imagine they'll be chasing somewhere between 100 and 120k (and possibly more) per square metre so...

The EIA thing is a good start, but NO guarantee the building will go ahead or ever be finished!. Unless it was a major developer with multiple completed projects under their belt and the building you were looking at was almost fully built, I'd be highly wary. There would surely be countless tales of woe on the net of what can and will go wrong buying condos in Thailand before they're built and a Chanote can be issued immediately. Google The Waterfront in Pattaya for one such example of a building where not one person is glad they "got in early" 5555!.

As for Sriricha, it's a nice enough little town with a shopping mall and a good hospital sort of thing. Quite a few Expats of all nationalities are based there who work at Laem Chabang, or other nearby industrial estates. Some excellent golf courses in the immediate area if that's your go. It'd be a good getaway location from Bangas. Maybe go there sometime, check into a hotel for a few nights, and scope it out to see if it's your speed. And maybe cast the net a bit wider to include the coastline between Ban Chang and Rayong, it's only another 20-30 minute drive from Sriricha.
